Abstract: An information processing unit determines, when receiving information through a reading process from a recording medium, whether a user identified by the information has transition authority for a transition from an energy saving mode to a normal mode of carrying out information processing; sends a transition request for carrying out a transition from the energy saving mode to the normal mode to a power supply control part when determining that the user has the transition authority; and carries out the transition to the normal mode in response to the transition request and, when authentication of the user is successful, displays on a user interface part a display screen page for receiving an operation concerning the information processing.

Abstract: An information processing system includes an operation unit that receives an operation from a user and a main unit that operates based on a request from the operation unit. A device information providing part provides device information of the main unit as device information required for a license registration of an application program to be executed by the operation unit. A license management part performs, after an execution of the application program is requested in the operation unit, a license verification by using the device information of the main unit acquired from the main unit based on license management information of the application program of which a license is registered using the device information.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a UI application that configures functions supported in an energy saving mode and in a normal mode, an energy saving memory control service that manages settings of the configured functions supported in the energy saving mode, and a filtering service that filters external access to the image forming apparatus in the energy saving mode along with the settings. In the energy saving mode, the filtering service determines whether the image forming apparatus remains in the energy saving mode or returns to the normal mode in order to process the access using the settings.
