  • Patent number: 10139250
Abstract: In some examples, an optical encoder may consist of a light source that shines light onto a wheel which then reflects the light onto a sensor. Using information encoded in the reflected light, the rotation of the wheel may be determined. In some examples, rotation of the wheel may be determined by detecting an encoding pattern in light reflected from an exterior surface of the wheel. In some examples, the encoding pattern can be a pattern of light and dark stripes. In some examples, a pattern of light stripes can be generated from light reflecting off of reflective portions of the wheel. Some examples of the disclosure relate to using a surface topology for a wheel that can be used to generate an encoding pattern of light and dark stripes in light reflected from the surface of the wheel, even when the surface of the wheel is uniformly reflective.

  • Patent number: 8385736
Abstract: An imaging apparatus includes: optical finder means for introducing subject light having passed through an image capturing optical system onto a predetermined mirror at a first angle and guiding light reflected off the predetermined mirror to a finder window; a liquid crystal display disposed in an optical path of the subject light in the optical finder means; and illumination means for illuminating the liquid crystal display with light having a predetermined wavelength, wherein scattered light produced in the liquid crystal display illuminated with the light from the illumination means is incident on the predetermined mirror at a second angle, the finder window is disposed in a path of the scattered light reflected off the predetermined mirror, and the predetermined mirror has reflection characteristics in which spectral reflectance associated with the predetermined wavelength of the light incident at the second angle is lower than the spectral reflectance associated with the predetermined wavelength of the

  • Patent number: 8203787
Abstract: An optical device includes a first optical member and a second optical member formed of a medium having a refractive index greater than 1, and a multiple layer film section. The multiple layer film section has a structure in which at least two types of thin film layers namely a first thin film layer and a second thin film layer which has a refractive index higher than a refractive index of the first thin film layer, are stacked alternately. The first optical member and the second optical member are joined by an adhering means (an adhesive), and satisfy a predetermined condition. At the multiple layer film section, from a light incident, a light in a first wavelength band is let to be reflected, and a light in a second wavelength band which is shorter than the first wavelength band, and a light in a third wavelength band which is longer than the first wavelength band is let to pass (to be transmitted).
