  • Publication number: 20080310292
Abstract: A recording type optical disk on which data is recordable includes a data recording and reproducing area for recording data therein and reproducing data therefrom, and a read-only disk identification information area for recording disk identification information for identifying the optical disk therein. In the optical disk, the disk identification information is formed by removing a reflection film that is formed on the optical disk in a strip shape. The disk identification information includes an inherent disk identifier for each optical disk, and the data recording and reproducing area includes an area for recording encrypted data therein. The encrypted data is encrypted by using information including the disk identification information for identifying the optical disk as a key.

  • Patent number: 7457475
Abstract: In an edge detecting apparatus and a noise eliminating apparatus, low AC components are detected from frequency components obtained by orthogonally transforming an image signal in rectangular units. Edge components are included in the low AC components among the frequency components. Based on this characteristic, based on the result of detecting the low AC components, in a rectangular-unit image corresponding to the low AC components, it is determined whether edge components corresponding to the low AC components are included in a rectangular unit image, and an edge direction is detected if the edge components are included. This enables ensured detection of edge components in any portions of a screen.

  • Patent number: 7298844
Abstract: A recording/reproducing apparatus includes: a first storage section for storing data structure information which includes encrypted data; a special information holding section for holding special information associated with the data structure information; and a controller for controlling the first storage section and the special information holding section. The data structure information is associated with the special information such that the special information is updated in response to an update of the data structure information, or such that the data structure information is updated in response to an update of the special information. The controller controls movement of the encrypted data from the first storage section to a second storage section, and the controller updates the special information such that a mismatch occurs between the special information obtained before the movement of the encrypted data and the special information obtained after the movement of the encrypted data.

  • Patent number: 7209422
Abstract: An optical disc recording method is provided for superimposing sub information by displacing edges of one or more optically-readable recording marks by a minute amount on the basis of a binary sequence code, when recording main information by forming said one or more recording marks, the optical disc recording method including a sequence generation step of generating a first binary sequence code and a second binary sequence code that is different from the first binary sequence code; a first displacement step of displacing one of the edges according to the first binary sequence code; and a second displacement step of displacing another of the edges according to the second binary sequence code.

  • Patent number: 7196994
Abstract: An optical disk is provided that disables reproduction of sub-information even if the sub-information as a contents encryption key is recorded entirely onto another optical disk. Sub-information is recorded on the optical disk by deforming a recording mark slightly in accordance with a pseudo random number sequence that is obtained using as an initial value medium ID that is read out medium inherent information. This allows sub-information inherent in a medium to be recorded, and even if the sub-information is duplicated entirely to another optical disk, the illegally duplicated sub-information cannot be reproduced because of a difference in initial value of a pseudo random number sequence between media.

  • Patent number: 7164644
Abstract: An optical disc has a plurality of sectors, where each of the plurality of sectors includes a plurality of frames. A sub information bit value of “0” or “1” is assigned to the plurality of frames constituting a sector, excluding the first and last frames. Edge positions are displaced so that leading/lagging errors appear in accordance with a certain rule when data fields of the frames to which the sub information bit value “1” is assigned are read. Edge positions are displaced so that leading/lagging errors appear in accordance with a reversal of the certain rule when data fields of the frames to which the sub information bit value “0” is assigned are read.

  • Patent number: 7136335
Abstract: An information recording medium for recording main information and auxiliary information is provided. The auxiliary information is recorded on the information recording medium in a manner that edge positions of the pits or the recording marks indicating the main information are shifted either in a phase advancing direction or in a phase delaying direction along the track direction. A predetermined frequency is used to determine whether the edge position is shifted in the phase advancing direction or in the phase delaying direction in order to record the auxiliary information. The predetermined frequency is substantially consistently lower than ½ of a reference frequency of a recording clock for creating the pits or the recording marks and is higher than a response frequency of a PLL for generating a reproduction clock for reproducing the main information.
