  • Patent number: 4637487
Abstract: A traction control device in an engine which has an intake passage. A throttle valve and a flow control valve are arranged in series in the intake passage. Where acceleration of the motor vehicle is carried out, when the speed of rotation of the driven wheel or acceleration of the speed of rotation of the driven wheel exceeds a predetermined level, the flow control valve is closed. When the speed of rotation of the driven wheel becomes lower than a predetermined level or deceleration of the speed of rotation of the driven wheel becomes larger than a predetermined level, the flow control valve is opened.

  • Patent number: 4519469
Abstract: A system for automatically controlling driving speed includes a fixed speed driving device for keeping the driving speed at a predetermined speed and a control device for maintaining an optimum interval between the vehicle and the vehicle driving ahead. A hold circuit for holding the optimum driving speed, based on the distance from the vehicle driving ahead, is actuated by a circuit for detecting curves in the road, whereby the hold circuit maintains the driving speed of the vehicle as it rounds a curve at the optimum driving speed determined for the vehicle before it entered the curve.

  • Patent number: 4497395
Abstract: An anti creep braking system for a vehicle. A force transmission member is drivingly coupled to a part of the brake pedal and transmits braking force to a braking force generation system. A braked member is selectively braked by a braking device, and is driven by the brake pedal with a one direction force transmission device being interposed on the path of transmission of force between the brake pedal and the braked member. The sense of force transmission of the one direction force transmission device is such that, when the movement of the braked member with respect to the vehicle is prevented by the braking device, the brake pedal may be further depressed to increase vehicle braking action without transmitting substantial force to the braked member, but may not be moved backwards to reduce vehicle braking action.

  • Patent number: 4211312
Abstract: In an emergency brake system for a vehicle having a brake booster to increase braking pressure applied to wheel brake cylinders from a master cylinder, a cut-off valve is provided within an exhaust pipe of an internal combustion engine for the vehicle and operatively connected to a manual shift lever, and a selector valve is disposed within a communication passage connecting a servo-chamber of the brake booster to an upstream of the cut-off valve in such a manner that the servo-chamber is normally communicated to a source of pneumatic pressure in response to operation of the master cylinder. The cut-off valve is normally opened when the shift lever is in a first position and is closed upon shifting the lever to a second position from the first position to create back pressure acting on the engine. The selector valve is switched-over upon shifting the lever to the second position to apply the back pressure from the exhaust pipe into the servo-chamber through the communication passage.

  • Patent number: 4140351
Abstract: A brake booster for a vehicle comprises first and second control pistons operated by hydraulic pressure from a master cylinder, and a power piston pneumatically actuated in response to movement of the control pistons to increase braking pressure applied to the wheel brake cylinders of the vehicle. To control the increasing ratio of the braking pressure in accordance with the changes of the vehicle weight, under unloaded condition of the vehicle only the first control piston is operated by the master cylinder pressure to actuate the power piston and under loaded condition of the vehicle the second control piston co-operates with the first control piston by the master cylinder pressure to accelerate the actuation of the power piston.

  • Patent number: 4033634
Abstract: An antiskid control device for vehicles, comprising a timer circuit for producing a timing signal in synchronism with the extinction of a release signal for a skid control, apparatus for rapidly increasing the braking pressure applied to the wheel in response to said timing signal coming from the timer circuit, and correcting apparatus for increasing the braking pressure increasing rate when a large amount of friction is present between the wheel and the road surface, said antiskid control device being able to hold the fluctuation of the braking pressure within a narrow range to prevent unnecessary vibrations of the vehicle at the time of braking due to the fact that the braking pressure increasing rate is changed when the braking pressure is reapplied to the wheel, and being able to control the braking operation at all times in a manner best suited to the various road surface conditions encountered so that a skid of the vehicle is prevented from occurring and the braking distance is reduced greatly, due to t

  • Patent number: 4007971
Abstract: An anti-skid control system for vehicles wherein, in view of the fact that while it is desirable for a vehicle anti-skid control system to detect the speed of the vehicle body and the speed of the wheel to positively prevent the skidding of the vehicle, it is very difficult to detect the speed of the vehicle body, a plurality of control patterns for decreasing the wheel speed to prevent the locking of the wheels under an excessively large braking pressure are predetermined, whereby the selection among the control patterns is effected according to the conditions of the road surface detected by a vehicle body deceleration sensor and a reference wheel speed according to the selected control pattern is compared with the actual wheel speed to forcibly reduce the braking pressure when there is a tendency for the wheels to lock, thereby preventing the locking of the vehicle and hence the skidding of the vehicle without detecting the speed of the vehicle body.
