  • Patent number: 6552095
Abstract: A laminate comprising a pair of thermoplastic resin members having fluctuation of clearance between the adhesion surfaces thereof, and a thermoplastic material foam layer which adheres the pair of the thermoplastic resin members. This laminate is formed from thermoplastic resin as a whole and can absorb the fluctuation of clearance between the members, and the thermoplastic resin members are firmly adhered with the thermoplastic material foam layer.

  • Publication number: 20020052440
Abstract: A long glass fiber filler reinforced resin material for molding includes a matrix polymer comprising a polypropylene component having a pentad isotactic index of at least 95%, and having a melt flow rate (JIS K7210, a temperature of 230 ° C.; and a load of 21.18N) of 100 to 300 g/10 min; a long glass fiber filler in a content of 30 to 50 mass percent with respect to a total mass; an affinity providing component for providing affinity between the matrix polymer and the long glass fiber filler. At least the matrix polymer and the long glass fiber filler form a composite. Thus, breakage of the long glass fiber filler is suppressed during molding processing, so that a molded article having a high bending modulus and a high impact strength can be molded.

  • Patent number: 6177502
Abstract: An injection molding composition includes: 100 parts by weight of a propylene-ethylene copolymer comprising a crystalline portion and a non-crystalline portion; and 17 to 33 parts by weight of inorganic particles capable of imparting at least one of rigidity and heat resistance to the propylene-ethylene copolymer. The propylene-ethylene copolymer has a melt flow rate of 15 to 50 g/10 min and a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of not less than 5. A crystalline ethylene polymer contained in the crystalline portion and a non-crystalline propylene-ethylene copolymer contained in the non-crystalline portion have a total amount ranging from 10 to 20% by weight.

  • Patent number: 6117954
Abstract: A method for preparing a polymer composite material comprises a step in which a monomer which forms a rigid polymer is compounded with a flexible polymer or a monomer which forms a flexible polymer to form a mixture which is polymerized in a further step by kneading in a molten state. The monomer which forms the rigid polymer is added several times to the polymerized mixture in a repeated series of compounding steps followed by a further polymerization. The compounding amount of the rigid polymer polymerized in the matrix of the polymer composite material can be increased while preventing the agglomeration and enlargement of fibers of the rigid polymer.

  • Patent number: 6048948
Abstract: There is a provided a method to produce a polymer composite material in which the rigid polymer (R.sub.m).sup.n is dispersed uniformly at the molecular level in the flexible polymer (M), preferably by both polymerization with no solvent in the molten and mixed state and subsequent polymerization in the solid state. According to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the polymer composite material is produced by polymerization with no solvent in the molten and mixed state. In the case that the rigid polymer is polymerized from the monomer having a slow polymerization rate, in order to prevent roughness of the rigid polymer during polymerization, the polymerization in the molten state is stopped at the polymerization degree equal to that of an oligomer and the resulting composite is subsequently polymerized in the solid state to increase the polymerization degree of the rigid polymer.

  • Patent number: 6037420
Abstract: The polymer composite material is produced using no solvent and includes a rigid polymer (B) dispersed uniformly into a matrix (A) at the molecular level in a state of a copolymer (A/B and/or A'/B) thereby enhancing the interface bonding of the rigid polymer (B) to the matrix (A). The non-solvent method includes a step of polymerizing a thermoplastic polymer (A) and a monomer to form a rigid polymer (B) with no solvent in the molten and kneaded state to provide a copolymer (A/B and/or A'/B) in which the flexible molecular chains (A and/or A') are made up of the thermoplastic polymer to the rigid polymer (B) to reduce the stress concentrating sources of the rigid polymer dispersed microscopically at the molecular level in the thermoplastic polymer matrix and enhance the interface bonding between the rigid polymer (B) and the matrix (A).
