    Abstract: A medical imaging apparatus includes an imaging unit having plural pixels each converting received light into an electric signal, thereby outputting an imaging signal; a memory to record the imaging signal; an evaluation-value calculation unit to calculate an evaluation value of an image generated from the imaging signal; an imaging signal selector to select an imaging signal to be displayed on based on the calculated evaluation value when inputting an instruction signal for selecting the imaging signal to be displayed; a memory controller to extract the selected imaging signal from the memory; and an image processing unit to process the extracted imaging signal controller to generate a display image. The evaluation-value calculation unit calculates the evaluation value by detecting the electric signal generated by each of the plural pixels included in a detection area that is a part of an effective pixel area for generating the display image.
