    Abstract: A money processing device is provided with a mode setting unit for setting a processing mode relating to a form of a process to be executed so that the mode can be switched between a mode for performing temporal retention and a mode for not performing the temporal retention, in response to a user's command, and is constituted so that, at the time of a process for depositing money or a process for withdrawing money, if the processing mode is set to the escrow mode, the deposit money or the withdrawal money is temporarily suspended, whereas if the processing mode is set to the non-escrow mode, the deposit money or the withdrawal money cannot be temporarily retained. Thereby, at the time of the process for depositing money or the process for withdrawing money, whether or not the operation for temporarily retaining money is performed can be changed by a user.
