  • Publication number: 20130007262
Abstract: A monitoring system quantifies either a configuration change or a status change of a monitoring target, and displays a change value thereof. Furthermore, the monitoring target refers to either a monitoring-target apparatus or a component of a monitoring-target apparatus. Moreover, in a case where multiple monitoring information acquisition intervals are used a change value may be computed and displayed for each of multiple monitoring targets. There may also be a case in which a time axis of a chronological graph of monitoring numeric values and a time axis of a chronological graph of change values are displayed collectively.

  • Publication number: 20120254406
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to create information for use in problem analysis only for a required event in a case where an event denoting a change in the configuration of a computer system has been detected. A management apparatus detects a configuration change of the computer system as an event and records this event in an event management table T30. The management apparatus holds an event propagation model for analyzing a problem, and records an event corresponding to the event propagation model in target event management information T34. The management apparatus executes a problem analysis process in a case where a detected event is registered in the target event management information.

  • Publication number: 20120246430
Abstract: The present invention achieves data relocation in accordance with a user's policies, in an environment where a plurality of storage devices coexist. The volumes belonging to storage devices A-D are managed virtually integrally. A host recognizes a plurality of storage devices A-D as a single virtual storage device. The user is able to group arbitrarily each volume belonging to the storage system, as a plurality of storage layers 1-3. For example, storage layer 1 can be defined as a high-reliability layer, storage layer 2, as a low-cost layer, and storage layer 3, as an archive layer. Each storage layer is constituted by a group of volumes corresponding to respective policies (high reliability, low cost, archiving). The user designates volumes V1 and V2 to be moved, in group units, and indicates a storage layer forming a movement destination, whereby the data is relocated.

  • Patent number: 8271638
Abstract: A storage resource stores a plugin information package, which is an information package comprising definition information for plugging in a node device as a management target. The definition information is information denoting at the least one of a method for acquiring information from a node device and an item of information to be acquired from a node device. A processor references the plugin information package, which is stored in the storage resource, and accesses a node device via a communication interface device based on the referenced plugin information package. The node device comprising information that has been correctly acquired in accordance with this access is regarded as the management target.

  • Patent number: 8225011
Abstract: A monitoring apparatus communicatively coupled to one or more devices forming an information processing system manages each of the devices by setting the device to be in any one of monitoring states including a monitoring target to be always monitored, a semi-monitoring target to be determined if there is a change in resources and a non-monitoring target being neither the monitoring target nor the semi-monitoring target. The monitoring apparatus newly acquires resource information on a device whose monitoring state is currently set to be the monitoring target or the semi-monitoring target, and determines if any of the resources of the device is changed on the basis of the newly acquired resource information, the resource information acquired last time, and a determination condition. When determining that any of the resources has been changed, the monitoring apparatus outputs a screen prompting a change of the monitoring state of the device.

  • Publication number: 20120102362
Abstract: The present invention realizes root cause analysis processing with a high certainty factor while holding down management cost. In the present invention, besides one or more condition events which could occur in a node apparatus, an additional event different from the condition events is introduced into an analysis rule for a root cause analysis. This analysis rule indicates a relation between the condition events and additional event and a conclusion event recognized as a failure factor according to satisfaction of the condition events and additional event. The additional event is a command for instructing execution of an action for acquiring additional information from the node apparatus according to a satisfaction state of the one or more condition events.

  • Publication number: 20120072775
Abstract: To quickly establish an inferring result when a problem is detected in an operation management system equipped with a rule-based inference processing function, there is provided a method of collecting information for managing a computer system equipped with a plurality of devices. The computer system holds rule for associating a plurality of events with a conclusion output when all of the plurality of events have been detected. The method includes: executing, at a first interval, polling to obtain information indicating whether each of the plurality of events has been detected; judging whether the plurality of events have been detected; and executing, upon judgment that at least one of the plurality of events has been detected and none of the remaining events have been detected, before execution of next polling at the first interval, polling to obtain information indicating whether at least one of the undetected remaining events has been detected.

  • Publication number: 20120017127
Abstract: There is provided a failure analysis function capable of reducing the time required to resolve a failure in a piece of equipment to be monitored. When the failure analysis function senses that the status of a piece of equipment which had been abnormal has returned to normal, it displays, of failure analysis results, one based on an equipment abnormality which has been resolved in a GUI separately from the other analysis results. If a failure analysis result is derived based on a plurality of failure events, the failure analysis function displays the failure analysis result in the GUI separately from the other failure analysis results when all of the failure events are confirmed to be resolved (see FIG. 16).

  • Publication number: 20120005609
Abstract: The present invention makes it possible to set a monitoring method for each of a plurality of monitoring-targeted objects. A node, such as a server, and a component, which is included in the node, are monitoring-targeted objects. An information acquiring part 140 acquires information from the monitoring-targeted objects. A control part 130 monitors the status of each of the monitoring-targeted objects based on the monitoring method set by a user for each of the monitoring-targeted objects, and outputs an alert in a case where a failure has been detected. A monitoring status is linked between monitoring-targeted objects that are associated to one another.

  • Publication number: 20110320599
Abstract: A management apparatus for managing a computer system stores configuration information of multiple management-target apparatuses based on multiple first information received from multiple management-target apparatuses. The management apparatus, based on the configuration information and multiple additional component application condition information, determines whether or not to use multiple additional component information to acquire multiple second information from the multiple management-target apparatuses. The management apparatus, in a case where a determination to carry out acquisition is made, uses the multiple additional component information to receive the multiple second information from the multiple management-target apparatuses, and based on the multiple second information, either creates or updates the management information of the multiple management-target apparatuses.

  • Publication number: 20110307591
Abstract: A system management apparatus for managing a computer system receives plug-in distribution data from a plug-in distribution apparatus. The plug-in distribution data comprises plug-in definition information and template definition information. The system management apparatus uses the plug-in definition information to acquire information from the management target apparatus, and determines whether or not to issue an alert based on the template definition information. The distribution of the plug-in and the template at the same time means that the user can avoid confusion regarding the threshold setting.

  • Publication number: 20110265006
Abstract: Provided is a management system for managing a plurality of management target information processing apparatuses including a plurality of network apparatuses and a computer. This management system determines the reachability of a route network apparatus as a network apparatus on a communication between the system and the computer, and calculates a certainty factor concerning the certainty on whether a prescribed network apparatus contained in a route network apparatus based on the reachability is the cause of unreachability from the management system to the computer. The management system subsequently displays information showing that communication from the management system to the computer is unreachable, and the certainty factor as the certainty that the prescribed route network apparatus is the cause of unreachability.
