  • Patent number: 5654852
Abstract: In a transportation or in an accident, the carriage of a floppy disc apparatus has a chance to collide with the stopper mechanism of the apparatus. A shock absorbing mechanism is provided in the stopper mechanism to avoid damage from the shock.

  • Patent number: 5629819
Abstract: A floppy disk assembly is adapted to accommodate a floppy disk having a discrimination hole for discriminating a storage capacity and includes a detecting member, a cassette holding plate, a sliding plate, a lock member, and a rod member. The detecting member detects whether or not the discrimination hole is present. The sliding plate has a projection and is subjected to a spring action for causing the cassette holding plate to slide from a position at which the floppy disk is mounted/dismounted to a position at which writing/reading is performed by a magnetic head. The lock member engages or disengages with the projection on the sliding plate when the floppy disk is dismounted or mounted. A rod member is linked to one end of the lock member and is allowed to rotate as the floppy disk abuts the rod member upon the mounting of the floppy disk. The use of the rod member makes it possible to move the location of the lock member beyond the location of the hole detection member.

  • Patent number: 5418665
Abstract: A floppy disk drive having a driving section provided with a spindle motor and a linear pulse motor includes a primary rail member (7) which determines a direction of movement of a reciprocating moving member (13) of the linear pulse motor and which has a plurality of V-shaped reference point cut-outs (8a, 8b) which serve as guides for reference pins (17, 18) of a jig. The spindle motor and the linear pulse motor are carried by a motor base (3) which has a plurality of holes (4a, 4b) for receiving the reference pins (17, 18). These pins are long enough to extend into the cut-outs. The holes (4a, 4b) have inner diameters which are larger than the outer diameters of the reference pins for enabling the motor base to be moved and adjusted. The arrangement enables an assembly of a floppy disk drive with high precision.

  • Patent number: 4972132
Abstract: A circuit for controllably and finely driving a stepping motor, which moves a magnetic head over a magnetic disk, by using the combination of current values which are individually approximated to a sine wave and a cosine wave. The circuit allows a magnetic head to move at a high speed across the tracks of a magnetic disk toward a desired track, while after such a movement of the head lowering the remaining oscillation frequency of the stepping motor to allow servo to be applied immediately, thereby enhancing rapid operations of the apparatus.
