    Abstract: A process for controlling curl in coated papers in which the paper web is coated on one side and is wetted with water on the opposite side by a roll-type water applying apparatus, the water applying operation being carried out under such conditions that the relative difference of the surface speed of the applicator roll from the running speed of the paper web is at least 1000 m/min. and preferably the water applicator roll is reversely turning. Curling of the paper is thereby eliminated.
