  • Publication number: 20130004204
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a process unit arranged in the vicinity of the circumference of each photosensitive member and the process unit is configured to act on the photosensitive member in forming a toner image thereon. The image forming apparatus detects a time period since a laser beam emission unit emits a laser beam to the photosensitive member to form an electrostatic latent image for detection until the formed electrostatic latent image for detection or a toner image based on the electrostatic latent image for detection reaches the process unit, and performs color misregistration correction control based on the result of detection. In this case, a control unit at least decreases the light amount of a pre-exposure LED when the electrostatic latent image for detection passes through a position facing the pre-exposure LED.

  • Publication number: 20120269557
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes: an image bearing member for bearing a toner image; a belt for conveying the toner image; and a transfer device for rubbing the belt, and a surface of the transfer device, which is brought into contact with the belt includes linear concave portions or linear convex portions. The image forming apparatus of the present invention prevents a friction force between the belt and the transfer device rubbing the belt from increasing and brings a transfer member into a stable contact with the belt for conveying the toner image, thereby suppressing increase in drive torque of the belt which rubs the transfer device and suppressing occurrence of image failure.

  • Patent number: 8238782
Abstract: Provided is an image forming apparatus having a charge brush for charging a transfer residual toner remaining on an intermediate transfer member. A toner is adhered to the charge brush. While a charge voltage is applied to the charge brush, the toner adhered to the charge brush is attracted by an electric field onto the charge brush. However, when the charge voltage is not applied to the charge brush, the toner adhered to the charge brush is moved to the intermediate transfer member. When a subsequent toner image is formed on the toner adhered to the intermediate transfer member, the quality of the subsequent image is deteriorated. Accordingly, the charge voltage is applied to the charge brush when an intermediate transfer area to which the toner image is transferred onto the intermediate transfer member immediately afterward faces the charge brush.

  • Patent number: 7113713
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a first image bearing member, a movable second image bearing member, a charging device and a voltage applying device. A toner image is transferred from the first image bearing member to the second image bearing member at a first transfer portion, and the toner image is transferred from the second image bearing member to a transfer material at a second transfer portion. The charging device is opposed to the second image bearing member at a downstream side of the second transfer portion and at an upstream side of the first transfer portion with respect to a moving direction of the second image bearing member. The voltage applying device switches a DC voltage from a first voltage to a second voltage which is opposite in polarity to the first voltage.

  • Patent number: 7085524
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of movable image carriers, a movable intermediate transfer body, and a contacting member separably contacting to the intermediate transfer body at a contacting position. A position for transfer between a first image carrier and the intermediate transfer body defines a first transfer position. A position for transfer between a second image carrier and the intermediate transfer body defines a second transfer position. A toner image formed on said intermediate transfer body is again transferred onto a transfer material after passing through said first transfer position and said second transfer position. The latent image formation on the first image carrier is done at a time different from a contacting operation of the contacting member.
