  • Patent number: 5381091
Abstract: A sensor having a wide sensing range is capable of being controll by a small scale processor. The sensor comprises: a plurality of planar zigzag coils being provided on substrates, the planar zigzag coils having the same coil pitch and being formed into zigzag shape in a first direction, the planar zigzag coils being capable of relative movement in the first direction, the planar zigzag coils including a first planar zigzag coil, which is a primary coil, and a second planar zigzag coil, which is a secondary coil; a magnetizing unit for magnetizing the first planar zigzag coil; a first detecting unit for detecting induced electromotive force, which is induced in the second planar zigzag coil by the first magnetized planar zigzag coil; and a second detecting unit for detecting displacement length between the first planar zigzag coil and the second planar zigzag coil on the basis of the induced electromotive force in the second planar zigzag coil.

  • Patent number: 5319915
Abstract: A steel cord comprising a number (between 3 and 27) of element steel wires tightly twisted at a regular pitch P between 5 and 20 mm in the same direction. Each wire has a diameter d between 0.1 and 0.4 mm. At least one of the wires includes a spiral portion having a spiral pitch P1 between 0.1P and 0.7P and a spiral diameter d1 between d+2/100 mm and d+2/10 mm. At least one other wire includes a straight portion. At any cross section of the cord, 1/4 through 2/3 of the wires is/are spiral and the other wire/s is/are straight. The stretch of the cord under a load of 5 kg is between 0.10 and 0.40%. A method of producing a steel cord comprises supplying a number of element steel wires, forming at least part of at least one of the wires to be spiral, and tightly twisting the wires.

  • Patent number: 5313161
Abstract: The present invention relates to a solenoid device such as a flow control valve and a displacement sensor. In a conventional solenoid device, it is not possible to get characteristic curve for easy control of the input voltage to an electromagnetic coil and the stroke of a plunger, or the stroke of a plunger and the frequency of a coil. Thus, it is difficult to control, land the stroke of the plunger is short. Therefore, in the present invention, the above stated disadvantages are solved by forming the end section of the plunger tapered, so that an electromagnetic valve having linear characteristic curve and longstroke plunger or a highly precise displacement sensor can be provided.

  • Patent number: 4410819
Abstract: An electromagnetic coupling device including a drive member coupled to the rotary shaft of an electric morot and a follower operating in response to the drive member. The drive member includes first and second magnet pole pieces and a magnetic path forming member. The drive member having a relatively large inertia, serves also as a flywheel. The follower is made to have a relatively small inertia to improve its response characteristic. The drive member has a space incorporating a fixed exciting coil and a fixed magnetic path forming member and a clearance accomodating eddy current generating plate thereby reducing the overall axial dimension of the electromagnetic coupling device.
