  • Publication number: 20160159311
Abstract: An airbag for an airbag device for a front passenger seat is housed in a housing in the shape of a folded-up body in front of a front passenger seat. The airbag includes a main bag section that includes at the rear plane as deployed a front-collision arresting plane for catching a passenger as moves forward and an auxiliary bag section that protrudes rearward out of the front-collision arresting plane. The lateral of the auxiliary bag section facing towards the front-collision arresting plane serves as an oblique-collision arresting plane for catching the passenger as moves diagonally forward, The folded-up body of the airbag includes a means for temporarily jointing the auxiliary bag section in a folded up configuration to the main bag section and preventing the auxiliary bag section from protruding out of the front-collision arresting plane in an initial stage of airbag deployment.

  • Patent number: 9358945
Abstract: An airbag housed in the housing and inflatable with an inflation gas for deployment rearward in order to protect a passenger in a front passenger seat. The airbag includes a main bag section that includes at its rear surface a front-collision arresting plane for catching the passenger upon a frontal collision, and an auxiliary bag section that includes an oblique-collision arresting section protruding rearward relative to the main bag section. The oblique-collision arresting section includes on its lateral an oblique-collision arresting plane for catching a head of the passenger upon an oblique collision. The oblique-collision arresting section is a high-pressure section which has a higher internal pressure than the main bag section when inflated. The airbag further includes in a front region of the auxiliary bag section a low-pressure section that is in gas communication with the main bag section and partitioned from the high-pressure section by a partition wall.

  • Publication number: 20160052479
Abstract: A lower limb protecting air bag, folded stored in front of an occupant seated in a seat and inflatable to cover the front of the lower limbs of the occupant by inflation gas supplied therein, includes: a main body inflation part configured to cover the front of the lower limbs of the occupant when inflation is completed; and a shin protection part arranged at least on one end side of the main body inflation part in the horizontal direction and projectable backward from the main body inflation part for covering the lateral side of the shins of the occupant in the inflation completed time, wherein the shin protection part completes inflation with an internal pressure higher than that of the main body inflation part.

  • Publication number: 20160046257
Abstract: An airbag includes a main bag section which protrudes rearward out of a housing and deploys in front of a front passenger seat and a center bag section which deploys toward an inboard direction from the main bag section in a width direction of the vehicle and in front of a space between the front passenger seat and a driver's seat in such a manner as to extend rearward from a side of the housing. A rear end region of the center bag section is deployable rearward relative to the main bag section. The airbag further includes an outer tether which extends outside of the airbag from a front end region of the center bag section and is connected to a vicinity of the housing by a leading end of the outer tether.

  • Patent number: 9162646
Abstract: A knee protection airbag apparatus includes an airbag and a front panel. The front panel includes a lower panel portion and an upper panel portion. When the airbag inflates, the airbag causes the upper panel portion to move to the front, and deploys in a space on a rear surface-side of the moving upper panel portion. The upper panel portion includes a general portion of an upper portion and a ceiling wall portion of a lower portion. The lower panel portion is separate from the upper panel portion, and covers a rear side of the folded airbag. The upper panel portion includes a pressure receiving portion facing the folded airbag. The upper panel portion has the vicinity of the fixation portion of the general portion as a bending deformation portion that bends when the upper panel portion moves to the front along with the inflation of the airbag.
