  • Patent number: 6816495
Abstract: A communication network including connection switching exchanges, such as an ATM, a connection management apparatus is provided in a network management unit of a communication network. A group of logical connections with a fixed group size and consecutive identifiers assigned to the connections is treated as a unit. The number of logical connections in the group is an integer with a power of 2. The logical connections and connection identifiers assigned to the logical connections are set up and released in connection setting units each equal to a multiple of the group size in a unitary manner across the network. A priority level is assigned to each connection setting unit. When logical connections have been set for connection setting units sharing the same connection identifiers, logical connections with the shared connection identifiers pertaining to a connection setting unit with a smaller size is considered to be valid.

  • Patent number: 6366582
Abstract: In a communication network including connection switching exchanges such as an ATM, a connection management means is provided in a network management unit of the communication network. A group of logical connections with a fixed group size and consecutive identifiers assigned to the connections is treated as a unit. The number of logical connections in such a group is an integer with power of 2. Logical connections in the communication network and connection identifiers assigned to the logical connections are set up and released in connection setting units each equal to a multiple of the group size in a unitary manner across the whole communication network. A priority level is assigned to each connection setting unit. When logical connections have been set for a plurality of connection setting units sharing the same connection identifiers, logical connections with the shared connection identifiers pertaining to a connection setting unit with a smallest size is considered to be valid.

  • Patent number: 5276709
Abstract: A correlation transmission coder or a correlation code transmission system whereby the correlation transmission coder generates a transmission signal to be sent on a transmission line, the transmission signal being determined, as with a partial response class 4 signal, by using already-transmitted data strings and data being transmitted by adding a specified length of frame synchronization pattern in each constant frame period. What is characteristic of this invention is the provision of which reset or preset in each frame period registers that are used commonly by a transmission system and a precoder that makes up the coder. Another characteristic is the provision of which inserts, immediately before the frame synchronization pattern, internal data that is added to the transmission data by the transmission system and the precoder.

  • Patent number: 4918734
Abstract: A speech coding system includes apparatus for generating a variable threshold dependent upon the power of an input speech signal, and a comparator for comparing the power of the input speech signal with the variable threshold value to generate a discriminating signal for discriminating between a period when a speech continues and a period when the speech pauses, to change the coding operation for the input speech signal in accordance with the level of the discriminating signal, thereby forming voiced and unvoiced frames independently of each other.

  • Patent number: 4864608
Abstract: An echo suppressor for a communication system wherein a signal sent to a transmitting line is returned to a receiving line with some delay. The suppressor comprises an attenuator for attenuating the amplitude of a received speech signal. The transmitting speech signal amplitude level is compared to the amplitude of a receiving speech signal, and according to the result obtained, a signal for controlling the signal attenuation of the attenuator is generated. The delay time, until the attenuation control signal operates on the attenuator according to a change in the amplitude level of the receiving speech signal, is controlled. The controlled delay time is normally held at a predetermined maximum value, and is minimized when a change in amplitude of the receiving speech signal indicates a beginning of speech. Thus, an echo of the speech uttered by a near end user can be suppressed without impairing a beginning of the speech signal uttered by a far end user.

  • Patent number: 4841521
Abstract: A method and a system for bidirectional transmission/reception of data between two terminal stations, in which each transmission period is divided into a plurality of first time sections for relatively low speed data transmission and at least one second time section for relatively high speed data transmission, the direction of transmission between the terminal stations being predetermined in each of the first time sections, while the direction of transmission between the terminal stations is reversible in each of the second time sections, each second time section being preceded by one of the first time sections. Transmission of information data and control data is performed from one to the other terminal station in a predetermined direction in each first time section, and the direction of data transmission between the terminal stations in the next second time section is determined on the basis of control data contained in the relatively low speed data transmission.

  • Patent number: 4720862
Abstract: A method and apparatus for speech signal detection and classification in which a partial auto-correlation and residual power analyzation circuit extracts a normalized first-order partial auto-correlation coefficient and K.sub.1 a normalized zero-order residual power E.sub.N from an input signal, and a sound source analyzation circuit extracts a normalized residual correlation .phi. from the input signal, and in which on the basis of these extracted parameters, speech signals are detected, and, when so detected, the detected speech signals are classified into a voiced sound V, an unvoiced sound U and silence S. The classification of the respective voiced sound, unvoiced sound and silence is determined on the basis of preset threshold values that are mutually considered and which correspond to values of these extracted K.sub.1, E.sub.N and .phi. parameters for establishing boundary values for classifying the input signals into a voiced sound, an unvoiced sound or silence.
