  • Patent number: 6616770
Abstract: A container cleaning apparatus comprises a solvent cleaning unit having a solvent cleaning chamber, and a rinsing unit having a rinsing chamber connected to the solvent cleaning chamber. Containers are conveyed by a conveyor through the solvent cleaning chamber and the rinsing chamber. The containers are cleaned by jetting a water-soluble or partially water-soluble solvent against the containers in the solvent cleaning chamber. Shutter devices have shutters disposed at an entrance to the solvent cleaning chamber and an exit from the solvent cleaning chamber, respectively, and capable of being moved between closed positions to close the entrance to and the exit from the solvent cleaning chamber and to isolate the solvent cleaning chamber from the rinsing chamber, and open positions to permit the containers to move from the solvent cleaning chamber to the rinsing chamber.

  • Patent number: 4228268
Abstract: A process for polymerizing vinyl chloride, which comprises mixing vinyl chloride monomer or a monomeric mixture composed mainly of vinyl chloride, with water, an emulsifier, a polymerization initiator soluble in the monomer and other polymerization aids to form a preliminary dispersion in which liquid droplets of the dispersed monomer have a weight average particle diameter of 5 to 40 microns and the proportion of liquid droplets having a particle diameter of at least 50 microns is not more than 10% by weight based on the entire liquid droplets, applying a homogenizing technique to the preliminary dispersion to form a homogenized emulsion, and feeding the emulsion into a polymerization step.

  • Patent number: 4070254
Abstract: A process for preparing a purified methacrylic acid ester from a crude methacrylic acid ester containing an isobutyric acid ester as an impurity, comprising the steps of azeotropically distilling the crude methacrylic acid ester in the presence of water to separate as the top distillate the isobutyric acid ester and water together with a small amount of the methacrylic acid ester and recover as the bottoms the greater part thereof, separating the distillate into aqueous and organic phases and further azeotropically distilling the separating organic phase in the presence of water to separate as the distillate the isobutyric acid ester and water together with a very small amount of the methacrylic acid ester and recover as the bottoms the remainder thereof, thereby obtaining the purified methacrylic acid ester.

  • Patent number: 3957880
Abstract: Methacrolein is recovered from a crude gaseous mixture in a process comprising the steps of first absorbing the methacrolein from the mixture with a selective solvent to form a liquid mixture and thereafter subjecting the thus formed liquid mixture to an extractive distillation with water.
