  • Publication number: 20060238637
Abstract: The present invention relates to a portable terminal in which the orientation of the displayed subject is the same as the actual orientation of the subject. The reference attitude when taking a picture is shown in FIG. 5, with the lid 12 being rotated substantially about 90 degrees about the X-axis with respect to the main body, and a perpendicular of the display 32 is in the same orientation as the optical axis of the CCD 41. In this attitude, the image captured by the CCD 41 is displayed as it is in the display 32. On the other hand, when the angle detector 51 detects that the lid 12 is rotated by a further 90 degrees with respect to the main body 11 from the attitude of FIG. 5 and the lid 12 and the main body 11 are opened by about 180 degrees, the image captured by the CCD 41 is rotated by 90 degrees, and the rotated image is displayed in the display 32. The present invention can be applied to portable type terminals such as mobile phones having a two axially rotatable structure, PDA, personal computers.

  • Publication number: 20060099468
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electronic device and an electronic device operating control method in which the state of the fuel cell can be accurately determined. In cases where the voltage generated by the fuel cell 12 acquired from the voltage detection part 14 is greater than a specified voltage reference value V, the microcomputer 11 causes the display part 18 to display that the fuel cell 12 is normal, while in cases where this generated voltage is smaller than the voltage reference value V, the microcomputer 11 causes the residual fuel amount detection part 13 to detect the residual fuel amount.

  • Patent number: 6897656
Abstract: For the purpose of efficiently homogenizing a magnetic field, when homogenizing a strength distribution of a magnetic field generated in a space between a pair of facing pole surfaces, a continuous magnetization distribution for homogenizing the strength distribution of the magnetic field is determined with respect to planes on which magnetic elements are to be disposed for homogenizing the strength distribution of the magnetic field; and magnetic elements are disposed based on the magnetization distribution. The magnetic distribution is determined as a polynomial of an orthogonal function. The polynomial is determined by an optimization method. The optimization method is a method of least squares.

  • Patent number: 6795259
Abstract: A lens barrel comprises a first cylindrical member having an inner peripheral surface, and a second cylindrical member internally fitted to the first cylindrical member and having an outer peripheral surface. One of the peripheral surfaces has first and second helical parallel axial grooves, and a third groove extending in only a circumferential direction continuously from one side ends of the first and second grooves. The other peripheral surface has first and second protruded portions engaging respectively with the first and second grooves in alignment in the circumferential direction and enabling relative rotations between the cylindrical members and relative movements in the axial direction. When the third groove is reached, the cylindrical members are allowed to make only relative rotations without moving in the axial direction.

  • Patent number: 6707301
Abstract: In order to nullify the adverse effect of an external magnetic field on a static magnetic field generated in an MRI system, small-size coils are used to generate a compensation magnetic field. Thus, the component of the static magnetic field to be applied to a magnetic sensor is canceled. The magnetic sensor can therefore detect the external magnetic field highly precisely. A correction current proportional to the external magnetic field detected highly precisely is fed to BO correction coils. Eventually, the external magnetic field that adversely affects the static magnetic field is canceled.

  • Publication number: 20030219764
Abstract: Embodiments of this invention include application of new inferential methods to analysis of complex biological information, including gene networks. In some embodiments, disruptant data and/or drug induction/inhibition data are obtained simultaneously for a number of genes in an organism. New methods include modifications of Boolean inferential methods and application of those methods to determining relationships between expressed genes in organisms. Additional new methods include modifications of Bayesian inferential methods and application of those methods to determining cause and effect relationships between expressed genes, and in some embodiments, for determining upstream effectors of regulated genes. Additional modifications of Bayesian methods include use of heterogeneous variance and different curve fitting methods, including spline functions, to improve estimation of graphs of networks of expressed genes.
