  • Patent number: 5404706
Abstract: Method and apparatus for high speed false twist texturing of yarns, which makes it possible to perform false twist texturing smoothly at a yarn speed of 1,000 m/min or higher. The number of false-twists inserted per meter of yarn is determined by Equation 1, while the yarn is false-twisted at a yarn speed satisfying Equation 2 and at a short yarn path length satisfying Equation 3: ##EQU1## wherein T is the number of false-twists inserted per meter of yarn, V is the yarn speed of false twist texturing (m/sec), L is the yarn path length from teed rollers to a false twister (m), and A is a cross sectional area of the yarn (m.sup.2), which is obtained by dividing the denier of the yarn by the density of the yarn. The false-twist texturing apparatus includes feed rollers feeding yarn to a false-twisting zone, a heating device bringing the yarn into direct contact with steam, a cooling device bringing the yarn into direct contact with water, a false twister and delivery rollers, in this order.

  • Patent number: 5384882
Abstract: In the image display device of the present invention, a number of light scattering layers formed on the ends of optical fibers are spotwise distributed on the image display surface, and said scattering layers are comprised of a transparent resin having a granular light scattering material added or very small depressions and projections produced on the surface. Further, the method of manufacturing the image display device according to the present invention is characterized by arranging the end faces of a number of optical fibers to the image display surface, then applying a photosensitive resin onto the image display surface, hardening the resin around the end of the respective optical fibers on the image display surface by the beam of light from the incident surface to form light scattering layers, then removing the unhardened portions.

  • Patent number: 4656825
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a sewing thread comprising the following steps:drawing an undrawn polyester multifilament yarn;preliminarily heat treating the drawn yarn at an effective heat treating temperature before false twisting;then, false twisting the heat treated synthetic multifilament yarn at a temperature of at least 150.degree. C.subjecting the false twisted yarn to a fluid jet treatment under the slackened condition so as to intermittently interlace in a lengthwise direction constituent filaments of the yarn and so as to form protruded portions protruding from the surface of the yarn; andpost-heat treating the interlaced yarn at an effective heat treating temperature being higher than the heat treating temperature of the false twisting.By this method, a thread suitable for sewing can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 4523428
Abstract: A specially designed multifilament textured yarn has alternating twists therein. A woven or knitted fabric manufactured from the yarn has a handling similar to that obtained by a hard twist yarn or a true twist yarn and provides pattern with a heather like feeling. In the yarn, S-twist yarn portions and Z-twist yarn portions are alternatingly distributed along the length of the yarn but the non-twisted portion is substantially not included in the yarn. Either S-twist yarn portions or Z-twist yarn portions have a compact twist yarn structure, and the other portions have a bulky twist yarn structure.

  • Patent number: 4242862
Abstract: A polyester yarn composed of a plurality of individual fibrous materials such as endless filaments or fibers. Each of these fibrous material is provided with cross-sectional thicker portions, thinner cross sectional portions and intermediate thickness-size portions randomly distributed along the axial direction thereof in a particular condition of distribution of cross-sections of these fibrous material. The above-mentioned polyester yarn involved a textured yarn applied to a drawn polyester multifilament yarn having the above-mentioned basic condition. To produce the polyester yarn according to the present invention, it is the basic condition that the undrawn polyester multifilament yarn should be drawn under a condition of a drawing ratio below a natural draw ratio of undrawn filaments of said undrawn multifilament yarn and a drawing temperature above a crystallizing initiating temperature of said undrawn filaments.
