    Abstract: A rubber composition for coating a steel cord, in which processability, durability and adhesive condition can be improved with favorable balance, and a tire using the rubber composition are provided. The rubber composition for coating a steel cord comprises 40 to 70 parts by weight of silica having a nitrogen adsorbing-specific surface area of 100 to 200 m2/g, 1 to 15 parts by weight of a silane coupling agent, 12 to 20 parts by weight of zinc oxide, 3.5 to 5 parts by weight of sulfur, and an organic cobalt in an amount of 0.05 to 0.3 part by weight, converted into metal cobalt amount, on the basis of 100 parts by weight of a rubber component, and a tire is prepared using the rubber composition.
