  • Patent number: 5060215
Abstract: A focus servo lead-in method is implemented where the focus servo loop is first in an open state. An objective lens located at a position separated by a predetermined distance from the recording surface of a disk is first moved toward the recording surface at a high velocity. At a predetermined time, the moving velocity is decreased to a lower velocity and the focus servo loop is brought to a closed state based on the level of the focus error signal obtained while the objective lens is moving at the lower velocity.

  • Patent number: 4946294
Abstract: A bearing apparatus comprises: a plurality of bearing units, each of the bearing units holding balls so as to have the balls freely rotate and the balls being arranged so as to have a predetermined distance in a relatively positional relation; and a plate for linking the plurality of bearing units on a plane to have the bearing units kept constant in a distance in a relatively positional relation. The bearing units are placed in holes drilled in the linking plate, and are connected to the linking plate slightly loose by a joint mechanism so as for the connection to be flexible during movement of the apparatus. The apparatus can be of 4 to 20 mm in height.

  • Patent number: 4831610
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a visual data playback apparatus such as a video disc player whereby control is executed in response to input commands which are generated by scanning a printed code, e.g. bar code, on a document to produce code signals which are supplied to the control apparatus of the invention. Portions of the code are positioned close to respective sections of a printed document, so that a user can cause moving or still images relating to a document section to be produced on a monitor display, without the need for the user's eyes to move away from the document being read, e.g. to operate a separate control unit.

  • Patent number: 4653132
Abstract: The present invention relates to a plug-containing type internally threaded anchor to be set in concrete which is used to optionally and firmly fix hardware, such as ceiling members, floor members and wall members, to the surface of a concrete structure and it also relates to a method of producing the same which promises mass-production effect. The invention is characterized in that as a means for preventing the plug contained in the anchor body from accidentally slipping off owing to vibration, shock or other external forces exerted during transport or laying operation, the anchor body is formed with an internal thread by rolling whose internal diameter is smaller than the outer diameter of the plug, so that the crest portion of the internal thread bulging by a predetermined amount above the anchor body holds the plug in slip-off preventing condition.

  • Patent number: 4553851
Abstract: A timepiece operated by solar cells wherein the timepiece includes a base plate defining thereabove a base with a time indicator. Mounted on the base plate is a driver for driving the time indicator. A plurality of circumferentially spaced solar cells are also mounted on the base plate for energizing the driver to drive the time indicator. The solar cells employed are respectively flat-shaped ones, each having a light sensitive surface on its one of two major surfaces, and are spaced circumferentially in a loop within a plane parallel with the base plate. A light guide is mounted on the base plate for transmitting incident light to the light sensitive surface of each solar cell through a deviated or deflected path for the purpose of giving greater design flexibility in the arrangement of the solar cells within a limited space of the timepiece, while retaining maximum light collecting efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4525609
Abstract: A time switch driven by an electric clock motor is disclosed. The time switch has a base plate above which a time dial with on and off-trippers are rotatably mounted. Disposed below the base plate are other components including input and output terminals, switch means electrically connected between the terminals, switch activating means for closing and opening the switch means in accordance with the positions of the on- and off-trippers on the rotating time dial, and gear train leading from a rotor of the motor to the time dial. The motor comprises the rotor which is a bipolarized permanent magnet and an electromagnet in the form of a ring interrupted by a gap in which the rotor is located. In the base plate there is formed a generally annular groove for receiving the electromagnet, such that the electromagnet, a constituent of the motor, is received within the thickness of the base plate to reduce the depth required for the motor disposed below the plate.
