  • Publication number: 20080295034
Abstract: An image pickup apparatus in which when a decision button is depressed, a transfer confirmation screen is displayed without recording a selection record, and, when a shortcut button is depressed, a selection record is recorded and the transfer confirmation screen is not displayed. When one of image data recorded in a storage medium is selected by an operation of a user, a reproduction module executes reproduction for display of the image data, and upon a user transfer instruction and acceptance of the instruction by a queue, a communication module transfers image data to an external apparatus. When one of other image data recorded in the storage medium is selected by a user operation in the course of a transfer process of the image data by the communication module, the reproduction module executed a reproduction process on the selected other image data.

  • Patent number: 7420597
Abstract: An external program supplied from an external unit in order to process an image sensed by a camera is prevented from causing a malfunction in the camera. An external program supplied by an personal computer is stored in an EEPROM of the camera. The external program contains version information giving the version of the camera that is capable of using the external program, the name of the program for control, and parameter information corresponding to the program name. A CPU compares each of these items of information with corresponding information that has been set in the camera, thereby determining whether the external program is capable of being used. If the external program cannot be used by the camera, a warning display is presented on a display unit.

  • Publication number: 20080170045
Abstract: If a request of handle information to identify data existing in a recording medium is made to a digital camera by a PC, the digital camera collects the data existing in the recording medium by accessing a file system, generates unique handle information independent of the file system on the basis of a file path of the file system, and transmits it to the PC. When the request accompanied by the handle information is received from the PC, the digital camera executes a file path restoring process to the handle information, thereby restoring the file path which depends on the file system in the digital camera, retrieves the requested file by using the obtained file path, and transmits the data to the PC. According to this arrangement, installation costs can be suppressed by making an identification information management table unnecessary even while identification information which is independent of a logical data management system is used.

  • Patent number: 7395442
Abstract: A host computer can prevent a peripheral device connected to the host computer from unexpectedly shifting into a non-connection state through control of the host computer. Further, when the peripheral device, such as an electronic camera, cannot receive enough power from a connection line, such as a USB, the peripheral is still able to use the available power effectively. To achieve these objectives, there is a disclosed computer peripheral device connected to the host computer, wherein the peripheral device is comprised of a connection signal transmitter and a controller. The connection signal transmitter is used to transmit from the peripheral device to the host computer a signal to control the connection with the host computer. The controller is used for proceeding a running state of the computer peripheral to a non-connection state, after the connection signal transmitter transmits a signal for a non-connection state to the host computer.

  • Publication number: 20080043110
Abstract: There is provided an image input device capable of connecting to a network, which can achieve, when a user wants to connect to a particular communication counterpart by operating the image input device, reliable connection with the counterpart that the user wants to connect by smoothly avoiding connection with other communication counterparts. Meanwhile, if the user wants to connect to the image input device by operating an information processor, connection with a communication counterpart which has issued a connection request earliest is achieved without operation of the image input device. A digital camera 100 has a wireless communication function of wirelessly connecting to a PC (personal computer) 101, which is an information processor. Pairing information for identifying a PC 101 to be a communication counterpart is set in advance, by connecting to the PC 101 via a USB cable.

  • Publication number: 20070260809
Abstract: When there are very many images stored in a memory card, a time after a computer and a digital camera have been logically connected with each other until the computer and the camera answers a user becomes extremely long. When the digital camera caches the information of a file stored in a storage medium by accessing the storage medium in a reproduction mode, and when the digital camera and the computer are physically connected to each other and they are in a communication mode, information which the computer appears to request finally is generated and stored. After that, when the digital camera receives a data transfer request from the computer, the digital camera transmits stored information to the computer in a lump.

  • Publication number: 20070252896
Abstract: An object of this invention is to shorten the response time of an electronic apparatus such as an electronic camera capable of communicating with an information processing apparatus such as a computer, and improve the usability of the information processing apparatus when the information processing apparatus requests data stored in the storage medium of the electronic apparatus. For this purpose, in an electronic apparatus which has a main storage device and an auxiliary storage device, is connected to an external apparatus, and can transmit/receive data to/from the external apparatus, data to be requested by the external apparatus is loaded in advance from the auxiliary storage device to the main storage device before the external apparatus requests the data after connection to the external apparatus is established.

  • Patent number: 7283160
Abstract: A system including an external apparatus and digital camera allows the external apparatus to set a set value which cannot be set by the stand-alone digital camera. In response to a request from the external apparatus (computer), the digital camera updates an image sensing set value table in which set values used for image sensing are recorded (S502). If this set value cannot be set by the stand-alone digital camera (“NO” in step S506), a message representing it is displayed on a display section (S508).

  • Publication number: 20070058031
Abstract: A wireless communication device is connected to an external device such as a personal computer. If an image capture device such as a digital camera is wirelessly connected to the external device, the wireless communication device behaves as the image capture device. If the image capture device is wirelessly connected to the external device, the wireless communication device relays information between the external device and the image capture device.

  • Patent number: 7075568
Abstract: A digital camera of a digital camera system includes an image capture unit and a storing unit for storing the captured image in a memory. A computer of the system issues a capture command for capturing an image by the digital camera or a delete command for deleting the image stored in the memory. The digital camera generates an event signal indicating a change in stored content in the memory by a common sequence when stored content is changed in response to the capture or delete commands and when the stored content is changed in response to a digital camera operation. The computer issues a control command for collecting the stored content by a common sequence in response to the event signal when the stored content is changed in response to the capture or delete commands and when the stored content is changed in response to a digital camera operation.
