  • Patent number: 5564640
Abstract: A drag device which does not require a large number of parts, is easy to assemble, is highly corrosion resistant and can keep its commercial value. Brake plates and a friction plate provided in the drag device are inserted into a central recessed portion formed in a spool. A pressure member is non-rotatably fitted to the outer periphery of a rotation preventive portion of a leading end small diameter portion formed in a spool shaft, while a nut mounted to an operation member is threadingly engaged with a threaded portion formed in the leading end portion of the small diameter portion. After the pressure member and operation member are assembled together, a removal preventive member is superimposingly assembled to a stepped portion provided in the operation member and an engaging portion is secured by means of the elastic deformation of a securing portion, so that the pressure member is secured to the operation member rotatably but unremovably.

  • Patent number: 4391419
Abstract: A drag adjusting device of spinning reel for fishing. The device has a cylinder projecting rearwardly from a reel housing and provided with an axial groove and stopper projection formed on its inner and outer peripheral surfaces, respectively. A spool slide shaft having the spool fixed to one end thereof projects into the cylinder from the bottom of the latter. The device further has a braking member consisting of two washers fitted to the spool slide shaft. One of the washers is adapted to rotate as a unit with the spool slide shaft, while the other fits the axial groove of the cylinder and, hence, is not rotatable. An adjusting cylinder is screwed to the outer end opening of the cylinder so as to be able to move back and forth with respect to the latter as it is rotated. The braking member is pressed by a spring acting between the inner bottom surface of the adjusting sleeve and the rear end surface of the braking member.

  • Patent number: 4163528
Abstract: A spinning reel for fishing in which a ratchet for inhibiting reverse motion of the rotor and a click gear are provided separately in a sleeve mounted with a rotor, and a holding piece designed to hold both sides of said ratchet is provided to a pawl engaged with said ratchet so that when the rotor rotation reverses, said pawl is automatically engaged with the ratchet by dint of said holding piece connected to said ratchet, and when the rotor rotates forwardly, said pawl separates from the ratchet owing to the holding connection of said holding piece to the ratchet, thus allowing engagement of the pawl and ratchet to prevent rotor reversion with no need of using any spring means therefor. Also, an elastic click pawl is provided engageably with the click gear provided separately from the ratchet, whereby it is possible to optionally select the number of teeth, material, shape, hardening treatment, etc.
