    Abstract: There is provided a multifunction rolling mill for rolling an H-beam including: a pair of right and left vertical rollers composed of flange thickness reduction rollers; web thickness reduction horizontal rollers; and a pair of upper and lower horizontal rollers arranged on both sides of the web thickness reduction rollers, having flange width reduction rollers freely moved in the vertical direction by retracting mechanisms. In the case of reduction of flange thickness and web thickness rolling, the flange width reduction rollers of the above horizontal rollers are moved upward and downward so that the flange width reduction rollers of the horizontal rollers do not interfere with the vertical rollers.

    Abstract: A roll for a rolling mill capable of an on-line control of the width thereof. The roll includes a drive roll connected to a mill motor and a hollow driven roll driven by the drive roll while being axially slidable with respect to the drive roll. A screw shaft is screwed to the inside of the hollow driven roll in such a manner that an end-to-end contact of the driven roll with the drive roll is obtained. A clutch is provided for a selective locking of the screw shaft, which is unlocked during a normal rolling process, so that the screw shaft is rotated together with the drive roll and the driven roll by a rotation of the mill motor. When adjusting the roll width, the clutch is operated so that the screw shaft is locked, and as a result, a rotation of the mill motor causes a mutual axial movement of the drive roll and driven roll to thus adjust the roll width. A means is also provided for a centering of the roll at the pass line of the material, after the adjustment of the roll width.

    Abstract: An apparatus for cooling hot steel plate and sheet has a plurality of cooling units disposed along the plate or sheet delivery line. Each cooling unit has a top and a bottom roll-and-nozzle assembly and a device for coupling them. The top and bottom assemblies each have a roll to restrain the plate or sheet and a nozzle to spray a coolant thereon. The coupling device has a screwdown mechanism to adjust the space between the top and bottom rolls and a device for adjusting the restraining force working on the plate or sheet being cooled. This cooling apparatus permits rapid cooling of steel plate and sheet without causing distortion thereof, and the apparatus is easy to maintain.
