  • Patent number: 9545088
Abstract: Provided is a fishing reel in which damage of a fishing line at the time of drawing out of the fishing line against a drag force can be prevented, and moreover a load on a level wind device can be reduced. Consequently it is possible to improve engagement and sensitivity of the fishing line, and operability of the fishing reel. More specifically, the fishing reel includes a level wind device causing a fishing line guide to reciprocate in a left-right direction to guide a fishing line to the spool, and a drag device imparting a drag force on the fishing line. The fishing line guide includes a narrow guide portion and a wide opening, the fishing line is situated in the narrow guide portion when the fishing line is wound around the spool, and situated in the wide opening when the fishing line is released from the spool.

  • Patent number: 6113018
Abstract: A rolling member fitted into a guide recess and capable of performing a wedge action on a collar of a rotary quill is held by an annular holder in such a manner that the longitudinal movement of the rolling member can be restricted and the outside of the annular holder is rotatably fitted with an annular outer frame for restricting the outward movement of the rolling member, thereby forming a clutch main body. By rotating the annular holder by use of a rotation operation member provided in the annular holder, the rolling member is controlled such that it can be restricted and held at an operative position allowing the wedge action or at a non-operative position prohibiting the wedge action, thereby switching the rotary quill to a reversal preventive position or to a reversal allowable position. Also, the clutch main body is constructed as detachable one unit.

  • Patent number: 5372323
Abstract: In the fishing reel, a one-way brake is interposed between a reel main body and a drive shaft which is rotatable in linking with the rotation of a handle, switch-over members and capable of engaging the one-way brake with the drive shaft or disengaging the one-way brake from the drive shaft are interposed between the drive shaft and one-way brake, and an operation member for performing the switching operation between the engagement and disengagement of the switch-over members is disposed in such a manner that it can be operated from outside of the reel main body. It is possible to provide a simple and highly reliable fishing reel which is switchable in operation such that in one operation it prevents reversed rotation with the degree of play reduced and in the other operation it allows rotation in both forward and reversed directions as need arises.

  • Patent number: 4674699
Abstract: A backlash preventing device for a fishing reel which comprises a spool, a non-magnetic component provided with said spool, magnets for applying magnetic fluxes of a predetermined strength to said non-magnetic component for generating a braking torque at the initiation of the reel usage; there being an adjustor for controlling the strength of the magnetic flux to be exerted. A clutch mechanism is provided for the spool and with there being a timing control element for maintaining said braking force in spool rotational restraining condition for a period determined adequate to prevent backlashing.
