  • Publication number: 20030006944
Abstract: A driving method for a plasma display panel realizes a high quality display at low power consumption while restraining a false contour. After a selective discharge for setting discharge cells to a light-on state or a light-off state is generated in one subfield of N subfields constituting each field, the selective discharge is generated again only in subfields placed at predetermined positions from the beginning of each field.

  • Publication number: 20020196225
Abstract: A panel drive device is provided with: a shift register for sequentially storing address data according to second clock pulses; a latch circuit for latching the address data stored in the shift register; and a drive circuit for driving a display panel based on the address data output from the latch circuit. Supply of the second clock pulses to the shift register is interrupted after a regular timing for causing the latch circuit to latch predetermined address data stored in the shift register.

  • Publication number: 20020190928
Abstract: A PDP driving apparatus having a resonance driver of a PDP electrode for shortening a time required to display an image since the power-up. A power collecting capacitor included in each electrode resonance driver is charged rapidly to a predetermined potential upon power-up of the PDP driving apparatus by allowing each electrode resonance driver to drive electrodes by means of excitation. Also, while the power collecting capacitor included in the row electrode pair driver is charged, charge driving pulses in-phase and of the same polarity are applied respectively to corresponding two electrodes to drive these electrodes by means of excitation.

  • Publication number: 20020186185
Abstract: A plasma display panel driving method and a plasma display apparatus which can reduce power consumption. A selective discharge is generated at least once for selectively setting each of discharge cells of a plasma display panel either to a lit discharge cell state or to an unlit discharge cell state in accordance with a video signal. In this case, the number of times the selective discharge is generated is changed in accordance with the power consumption associated with the selective discharge.

  • Publication number: 20020180668
Abstract: A plasma display apparatus which can surely prevent an overcurrent flowing in a driver for driving electrodes of a plasma display panel. A power source is shut off when an internal short-circuit state of a column electrode driver is detected based on a current or an electric potential on a power line in a column electrode driver detected during a light emission sustaining period.

  • Patent number: 6304038
Abstract: A driving apparatus of a display panel permits an electric power consumption at the time of generation of a pixel data pulse can be reduced. Charges stored in a capacitor are discharged and supplied to a power line. Subsequently, a power potential is applied to the power line and, thereafter, charges stored on column electrodes of the display panel are charged into the capacitor via the power line. Finally, the power line is connected to the ground only for a short predetermined period of time. By connecting the power line and the column electrodes only for a predetermined period of time in accordance with a video signal, the pixel data pulses are applied to the column electrodes.

  • Patent number: 6252574
Abstract: Disclosed is a driving apparatus for a plasma display panel comprising a group of pairs of row electrodes divided into a plurality of sub-blocks, and a driving pulse generator provided in each sub-block for supplying a driving pulse to the associated sub-block, thereby eliminating non-uniform luminance distribution on the display surface due to variations in voltage of pulses supplied to row electrode in the respective sub-blocks. Output terminals of the pulse generators in the respective sub-blocks are connected to each other to make the voltage levels of at least sustain pulses constant.

  • Patent number: 6195072
Abstract: A plasma display apparatus capable of easily implementing stable image display. In generating a priming pulse and a scan pulse by alternately applying the potentials of the positive terminal and negative terminal of a first voltage supply for generating a DC voltage, to row electrodes, the potential of the positive terminal of a second voltage supply with a grounded negative terminal for generating a DC voltage smaller than a voltage of the first voltage supply is applied to the positive terminal of the first voltage supply, thereby shifting the potential of the negative terminal of the first voltage supply on a negative side.

  • Patent number: 5596248
Abstract: A convergence correcting device in a CRT display apparatus is free from any necessity of adjustment of a convergence correction rate even if a raster size is changed. The convergence correcting device generates a modified blanking pulse having a pulse width which becomes larger as an amplitude of a deviated voltage becomes larger, and generates a convergence correction signal in accordance with the modified blanking pulse.
