  • Patent number: 10824566
Abstract: In a storage device according to the present invention, controllers each having a cache memory manage duplication of cache data. A storage device SD includes multiple controllers 1 each including a cache memory, and multiple storing units 21 used by the controllers and configured with logical volume 24 for being provided to a higher-level device 3. Each of the controllers, in a case where a paired destination controller forming a duplication pair is blocked, selects a new paired destination controller for each logical volume, forwards the cache data stored in the cache memory included in the own controller to the new paired destination controller, and stores the cache data in a cache memory included in the new paired destination controller to duplicate the cache data.

  • Patent number: 8117419
Abstract: A storage apparatus provides, in a dynamic provisioning system, a virtual logical device (DP-LDEV) that is a virtual logical device configured of a real logical device (N-LDEV). In the storage apparatus, a storage area of a real logical device is managed by being divided into unit cache areas (SLCBs), which are predetermined management units. A storage area of a virtual logical device is managed by being divided into virtual unit areas (PSCBs), which are predetermined management units. Multiple virtual unit areas having the same data stored therein are made to correspond to the same unit cache area, and thereby data stored in a storage device is managed. The correspondence is established with at the timing of, for example, destaging data from a cache memory.

  • Publication number: 20100199038
Abstract: In a configuration in which it is necessary to transfer data from a first storage system to a third storage system through a storage system between the storage systems, there is a problem that it is inevitable to give an excess logical volume to a second storage system between the storage systems. A remote copy system includes first storage system that sends and receives data to and from an information processing apparatus, a second storage system, and a third storage system. The second storage system virtually has a second storage area in which the data should be written and has a third storage area in which the data written in the second storage area and update information concerning the data are written. Data sent from the first storage system is not written in the second storage area but is written in the third storage area as data and update information. The data and the update information written in the third storage area are read out from the third storage system.

  • Patent number: 7373455
Abstract: Method and apparatus for using the storage resources of a storage system effectively, thereby reducing the cost of the storage system and improving its usability. The storage system includes a first storage apparatus and a second storage apparatus. When a host writes data to a virtual volume, the data are written into a pool area. A management table associates an address in the virtual volume with a pointer indicating the data stored in the pool area. The usage amount of the pool area is monitored. When the usage amount of the pool area reaches a predetermined value, a search for available capacity is performed. An unused external volume is detected and associated with an externally connected volume. The data stored in the pool area are then copied to the externally connected volume.

  • Patent number: 6914366
Abstract: In the exposing apparatus of an image forming apparatus or the like, an apparatus for suppressing the vibration of an optical part has a detector for detecting the vibrating state of the optical part, and a controller for controlling a vibrator so as to give the optical part such an appropriate amount of vibration as will negate the vibration of the optical part. Thereby, it becomes unnecessary to excessively increase the rigidity of the optical part and thus, a decrease in weight can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 4448409
Abstract: An improvement in Cartesian diving toy includes modification of both the diving component of the toy and of the receptacle in which the toy dives in. The diving toy includes an air chamber, a section of which is invaginated within the remaining section of the air chamber. The invaginated section is convoluted and is capable of extending or shortening in respect to pressure changes in the environment outside of the air chamber. A propulsion member is connected to the invaginated section of the air chamber and moves in response to the elongation or the shortening of the invaginated section to propel the toy through a liquid. The receptacle for the toy is improved by locating a pump chamber in association with the lower part of the receptacle allowing for complete purging of the air out of the pump chamber. The receptacle further includes a stopper having a protuberance on its lower side which fits within an upstanding wall on the upper portion of the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 4444391
Abstract: A teaching toy has a stop action feature which allows operators of the toy to momentarily stop the action of the toy in order for one of the operators to make a guess as to a question which is being asked by the toy. The teaching toy includes a housing with at least two operator interface members located on the housing. A control mechanism is located in the housing in association with each of the operator interface members. Each of the operator interface members are capable of independently interacting with the control mechanism such that as soon as a first of the operator interface members interacts with the control mechanism, further interaction with subsequent operator interface members is prevented. Interaction of one of the operator interface members with the control mechanism controls the output of an output mechanism which displays a card or the like utilized in a learning process.
