  • Patent number: 6127564
Abstract: The manganese complex of the invention is one represented by the formula (1 )[Mn(H.sub.2 NNHCONH.sub.2).sub.3 ](NO.sub.3).sub.2 (1)and showing weight loss of not higher than 1% after heating at 107.degree. C. for 400 hours. The manganese complex has high heat stability and is used as an active component of an air bag gas generating composition. The air bag gas generating composition of the invention contains the above-mentioned manganese complex. The air bag gas generating composition comprising a complex mixture of the manganese complex and magnesium complex of semicarbazide and/or carbohydrazide features a high rate of combustion residue in an inflator.

  • Patent number: 5741999
Abstract: This invention aims to provide a gas generating composition of a gas generator for an air bag, which composition produces less combustion residues and is easily adsorbed. This composition comprises azide of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, metallic silicide, and perchlorate or nitrate of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal. The combustion residues of the azide are changed to be glass silicate by the metallic silicide and caught by a filter of the gas generator, so that they do not pass through the filter of the gas generator nor make holes in the air bag unlike a conventional gas generator. And, the addition of silicon dioxide further improves the catching of the combustion residues of the azide.

  • Patent number: 5350193
Abstract: This invention relates to an air bag inflation gas generator to feed combustion gas for inflation of air bags such as air bags for absorbing collision shocks, life jackets, rafts, and escape chutes. When the generator is exposed to a high temperature environment such as fire and a temperature of a second end plate rises, heat of the second end plate is transmitted to an ignition agent via a heat sensing means, the ignition agent is ignited at a temperature thoroughly lower than the firing temperature of gas generating agents, and the gas generating agents burn.

  • Patent number: 4834818
Abstract: Provided herein is a gas-generating composition which forms combustion residues that can be easily captured. The gas-generating composition is composed of an azide of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, oxidizer, and 0.1 to 10 wt % of one or two kinds of solder glass represented by BaO. SiO.sub.2. PbO. Alkali or B.sub.2 O.sub.3. TiO.sub.2. SiO.sub.2. Na.sub.2 O. The incorporation of solder glass reduces the weight of the filter to capture combustion residues by 5 to 30 wt %.
