The granular composition has a water content of 10-60 wt. % and comprises fibrous basic magnesium sulfate particles, magnesium hydroxide in an amount of 5-300 weight parts per 100 weight parts of the fibrous basic magnesium sulfate particles, magnesium sulfate in an amount of 0.1-200 weight parts per 100 weight parts of a total amount of the fibrous basic magnesium sulfate particles and magnesium hydroxide. This method can give basic magnesium sulfate granules having a low bulk density and a high crushing strength.
