  • Patent number: 6541533
Abstract: The present invention provides thick extruded foam which is extruded polyolefin resin foam having open cells, used for cushion material and packaging material and the like, which exhibits uniform physical product properties, high expansion ratio, and uniform cell diameter. The extruded open cell foam of the present invention is an extruded foam exhibiting an open cell foaming ratio of 50% or greater, the base resin whereof is principally composed of a mixed polymer consisting of 4.5 to 75 parts by weight of component A consisting of an ethylene ionomer resin, 0.5 to 30 parts by weight of component B consisting of a polyolefin resin having a melting point exceeding 120° C., and 20 to 95 parts by weight of component C consisting of one or two or more polymers selected from a group of ethylene-propylene rubbers, styrene elastomers, and polyethylene resins having melting points of 120° C. or lower (where component A+component B+component C=100 parts by weight).

  • Patent number: 6537054
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for manufacturing expansion-molded articles continuously by conveying foamed beads into a heating region sandwiched between upper and lower belts. The apparatus has a belt that continuously travels along the upper inside face of a passageway, defined by structural members, whose cross-section constitutes an approximately rectangular shape and a belt that continuously travels along the lower inside face thereof. At least one of the upper and lower structural members that form the passageway is capable of movement in the vertical direction between the side-face structural members such that the thickness of the expansion-molded article can easily be varied. And at least one of the side-face structural members is capable of movement in the lateral direction between the upper and lower structural members such that the width of the expansion-molded article can easily be varied.

  • Patent number: 6432525
Abstract: In the present invention, for the production of a blow-molded foam, there is used a base resin which is mainly composed of a polypropylene resin and has, at 230° C., a melt tension (MT) of 10 gf or over and a melt flow rate (MFR) of 0.5 g/10 minutes or over. A foaming agent is added to the base resin, followed by melt kneading by means of an extruder under high temperature and high pressure conditions to provide a foamable melt. This melt is subjected to extrusion from a circular die 5 and expanded to form a cylindrical foamed parison 4. Thereafter, molds 6, 6 are clamped, and the parison 4 in a softened condition is placed in the molds 6, 6, and a pressurized gas is blown into the parison 4 from a gas blowing port 7 for blow molding in the form of a hollow shape conforming to the mold profile to produce a blow-molded foam.

  • Patent number: 6256937
Abstract: Prevention of damage of wooden construction materials of a building by termites by laying one or more panels each having a polycarbonate resin foam layer on the ground on which the building is constructed or by arranging such panels on surfaces of continuous footing of the building or of vertical concrete walls of the building. The concrete wall may be formed using modular concrete form structure units each having a pair of opposing side panels, with each side panel having a polycarbonate foam layer.

  • Patent number: 5968430
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method for continuously producing an expansion-molded article, comprising feeding foamed particles between a belt continuously traveling along the upper surface within a passageway defined by structural members and having a rectangular form in section and a belt continuously traveling along the lower surface within the passageway, and then causing the foamed particles to successively pass through a super heated steam-feeding region and a cooling region within the passageway. The foamed particles used are foamed particles of a polyolefin resin, in which a recovery factor from compression defined by the equation (1):Recovery factor from compression (%)=V.sub.2 /V.sub.1 .times.100(1)wherein V.sub.1 is the original bulk volume of the foamed particles, and V.sub.
