  • Patent number: 6554644
Abstract: An inner metal lock 30 is formed in an upper surface of a connecting portion 15 of an inner terminal 11 by cutting the upper surface and bending a cut portion outward to project obliquely backward. A locking hole 32 is formed in the upper wall of a dielectric element 13. Inner surfaces of an accommodating hole 25 of the dielectric element 13 are formed with ribs 34 to 37 for partly filling a clearance between the inner surfaces and the connecting portion 15 of the inner terminal 11. When the inner terminal 11 is pushed to a proper position in the accommodating hole 25 of the dielectric element 13 fixed in the outer terminal 12, the inner metal lock 30 restores to its original shape and fits into the second locking hole 32. As a result, the inner terminal 11 is locked in the dielectric element 13.

  • Patent number: 6533615
Abstract: A shielding terminal (15) is accommodated in a cavity (21) of a housing (20) in a connector (10) and is doubly locked by a lock (25) of the housing (20) and by a ground terminal (50). A recess (16D) is formed in a shielding shell (16) of the shielding terminal (15) during the formation of a locking claw (16B) for locking a dielectric element. The recess (16D) is narrower than the lock (25). Hence, the lock (25) neither enters nor gets caught by the recess (16D) during insertion of the shielding terminal (15) into the cavity (21). Therefore, an insertion resistance of the shielding terminal (15) can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6533609
Abstract: A shielding terminal has a lock (14) mounted in an area extending from an opening (22) of a covering wall (21) to an outer crimping portion (23) of an outer terminal (12), and is fixed with respect to the outer terminal (12) by mounting plates (41) wrapping around the outer crimping portion (23). At this stage, a locking edge (45) at the leading end of the lock (14) faces a bottom end of the rear end of a connecting portion (15) of an inner terminal (11) so as to be engageable therewith for locking. Accordingly, even if the inner terminal (11) tries to come out of a dielectric element (13) upon action of a pulling force on a core (2) of a shielded cable (1), the rear end of the connecting portion (15) comes into contact with the locking edge (45) of the lock (14) to prevent such a movement.

  • Patent number: 6491530
Abstract: A connector (10) has an improved operability by reducing an insertion resistance of a shielding terminal. The connector (10) has a housing (20) and a ground terminal (50). Contact pieces (56) of the ground terminal (50) are movable between a retracted position and a contact position and can be locked at the respective positions. A shielding terminal (15) can be inserted into the housing (20) at the retracted position where the contact pieces (56) and the shielding terminal (15) do not interfere with each other. Thus, an insertion resistance of the shielding terminal (15) can be reduced. Therefore, an assembling operability of the connector (10) can be improved.

  • Patent number: 6468116
Abstract: A connector is provided with crimping pieces that can be crimped into connection with a wire. The first and second crimping pieces (11, 12) are curved during crimping such that leading edges (11A, 12A) are inclined inwardly to a reduced diameter, and then are crimped into connection with a wire (W). The second crimping piece (12) is partly thinned at a position along its extending direction, to ensure that the leading edge (12A) can be bent inwardly. Thus, a crimping error resulting from such a deformation as to incline the leading edge (12A) in a direction opposite from an intended one can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 6372990
Abstract: A terminal is provided for stable mounting at a predetermined position of the leading end of a coaxial cable. The terminal 1 has rear side formed with a barrel 7 to be crimped into connection with the coaxial cable 2. A cover 11 is integrally provided before the barrel 7 for covering an exposed section of a core 3 of the coaxial cable 2. An embossed positioning portion 12 is formed between the barrel 7 and the cover 11. When the terminal 1 is mounted on a stripped end of the cable 2, the front end of a folded section 5A contacts a locking edge 12C of the positioning portion 12, thereby restricting any further insertion of the coaxial cable 2. Thus, the terminal 1 can be automatically positioned on the coaxial cable 2 with respect to the longitudinal direction of the coaxial cable 2.

  • Patent number: 6346016
Abstract: Chained terminals (10) are formed such that a multitude of terminal fitting pieces (12) are connected in parallel with a lateral edge of a carrier (11) in the form of a long strip, and are wound around and dispensed from a reel (20) with an interlayer sheet (21) laid underneath. Each terminal fitting piece (12) is formed with projections (17) projecting in a direction normal to a radial direction of the reel (20), i.e. a direction along the plane of the interlayer sheet (21). Thus, the projections (17) neither stick into the interlayer sheet (21) nor are deformed by being caught in by the interlayer sheet (21). Protecting portions (19) are aligned with the projections (17) but extend further from the carrier (11) for protecting the projections (17).

  • Patent number: 6210223
Abstract: A shielded connector is provided with an improved shielding characteristic. The shielded connector includes male and female shielded connectors (10a, 10b). A section of an inner conductor (51) of a shielded cable (50) that is not covered by an outer conductor (52) and a portion of an inner terminal (20a) at and near an inner crimping portion (24) that is fastened to the leading end of the inner conductor (51) are covered on three sides by a covering portion (45). Accordingly, shielding characteristic can be improved remarkably. By connecting the male and female shielded connectors (10a, 10b) with opening surfaces of the covering portions (45) thereof faced in opposite directions, radiation characteristic can be balanced. Therefore, an influence on a high-frequency signal transmitting through the inner conductor (51) can be reduced when it is passing through the shielded connectors (10a, 10b), with the result that shielding characteristic can be improved.
