Patent number: 5963538Abstract: Arranged in each of spring storing sections on either side of a window section are a retaining spring bearing situated adjacent to the window section and a fixed spring bearing situated at a distance from the window section. A shutter has a pair of movable spring bearings that are situated individually in alignment with the retaining spring bearings when the shutter is in its closed position. A fixed end of each of shutter springs is held by means of the fixed spring bearing. A movable end of each shutter spring engages its corresponding retaining spring bearing and the movable spring bearing in alignment therewith when the shutter is in the closed position, is pressed toward the fixed end and separates from the retaining spring bearing when the shutter moves from the closed position toward one of open positions, and separates from the movable spring bearing and is held by the retaining spring bearing when the shutter moves from the closed position toward the other open position.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1997Date of Patent: October 5, 1999Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventor: Takashi Koshiyouji

Patent number: 5150227Abstract: An apparatus is capable of reading a character or graphics image on a document at a plurality of reading linear densities. An illuminating device for illuminating the document, a focusing device for focusing the light beam reflected by the document, and a CCD reading sensor for converting the focused light beam into an electric image signal, are integrally assembled together to constitute a carriage device. This carriage device is shifted in a desirable shifting which is determined on the basis of the reading sensitivity of the CCD reading sensor and which corresponds to the linear reading density. The rotation speed of a driving device used for driving the carriage device is reduced to a desirable value by means of a transmission, the conversion ratio of which is determined on the basis of the least common multiple (LCM) of a plurality of reading linear densities. The driving pulses which should be supplied to the driving device can be easily calculated by use of the product of the "reference pulse " .phi.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 1990Date of Patent: September 22, 1992Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Takashi Koshiyouji, Teruhiko Uno, Shuuji Kizu

Patent number: 5119212Abstract: An image reading apparatus reads imae data from an original document when a carriage supporting a line image sensor reciprocates along an original document. When the image reading apparatus is transported, the carriage is secured to the apparatus so that it will not be moved due to vibrations and impacts. A safety device is installed on the reading apparatus so that the apparatus may not be operated with the carriage secured. The safety device checks whether or not the carriage is secured by use of a switch. When the carriage is secured, the safety device turns off the power supplied to the carriage. The safety device also turns off the power supplied to the light source when the carriage securing cover is removed to replace the light source.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1991Date of Patent: June 2, 1992Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Hiroyuki Mori, Tadamasa Mochida, Takashi Koshiyouji

Patent number: 5079635Abstract: A line sensor apparatus is adapted to read a character or pattern image on a document. In this apparatus, an illumination device for illuminating the document, a optical lens for focusing the light beam reflected by the document, a CCD line reading sensor for photoelectrically converting the light beam focused by the optical lens into an electric signal, and a holding member for holding the CCD line sensor and the optical lens are assembled as one body in such a manner as to constitute a carriage device. A uniformly radiated heat-radiating plate is in contact with the entire botttom surface of a support for the CCD line sensor, so that the heat generated by the CCD line sensor is radiated from the heat-radiating plate. Further, the CCD line sensor is kept in tight contact with the holding member, so that the heat generated by the CCD line sensor is also radiated from the holding member.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1990Date of Patent: January 7, 1992Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Takashi Koshiyouji, Teruhiko Uno, Shuuji Kizu

Patent number: 4989099Abstract: This image information reading apparatus has a main body and the main body has a platen glass provided on the top surface thereof. The main body includes a scanner having a lamp, a photoelectric transducer, an optical member, etc. When this image information reading apparatus is used for reading two types of original copies, one for reflected light and the other for transmitted light, a transmission unit for illuminating an original for transmitted light is mounted to the main body with first supporting means. This transmission unit serves as an original retainer when an original for reflected light is read. When this image information reading apparatus is used for reading only originals for reflected light, an original cover is mounted to the main body with second supporting means.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1988Date of Patent: January 29, 1991Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Takashi Koshiyouji, Hiroyuki Mori

Patent number: 4603849Abstract: A paper-sheet dividing apparatus has a blade wheel which has a plurality of curved slots. Each curved slot is rotated to sequentially deliver a paper sheet to a conveyor belt. The apparatus also has a dividing member rotated together with the blade wheel and timed such that a corresponding curved slot for receiving the last paper sheet among the first predetermined number of paper sheets to be divided is axially matched with one of the first blades which is positioned between the curved slot which receives the first paper sheet among the second predetermined number of paper sheets and the curved slot which receives the last paper sheet described above. The dividing member is rotated through a predetermined angle and is separated from the blade wheel. During this movement, the paper sheet removed from the blade wheel is temporarily supported on the dividing member.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1983Date of Patent: August 5, 1986Assignee: Tokyo Shibaura Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kunihiko Nakamura, Takashi Koshiyouji
