  • Patent number: 8615141
Abstract: Method and apparatuses for compensating for perceived blur due to inter-frame motion in a sequence of digital video frames are disclosed. One example method includes blurring a current frame using first and second blurring filters to generate first and second blurred frames, respectively. A first weighted combination of the current frame, the first blurred frame, and the second blurred frame is then blurred with the first blurring filter to generate a third blurred frame. The current frame is combined with the third blurred frame in a second weighted combination to generate a blur-compensated frame.

  • Patent number: 7499199
Abstract: Aspects of the invention can provide an image processing circuit for gray scale correction, an image display apparatus, and an image processing method that allow reduction in the storage capacity needed for storing correction characteristics data without increasing clock rate in relation to interpolation processing of correction characteristics. A exemplary image processing circuit according to the invention can be applied, for example, to color correction or gamma correction of color image data. Gray scale correction characteristics data for a number of gray scale levels that is less than the number of gray scale levels of input image data can be stored in first and second lookup table storing units.

  • Patent number: 7453601
Abstract: Aspects of the invention provide a color matching profile generating device that, in an apparatus having an input device and an output device, performs a color matching for the input device and the output device and reproduces favorable colors without depending on color characteristics of the devices. The color matching profile generating device can use an input device profile and an output device profile, in addition to a color conversion profile which defines color conversion characteristics in an absolute color space and generates a color matching profile for the input device and the output device. Since the color conversion profile defines the color conversion characteristics in the absolute color space, color conversion can be performed to image data obtained from the input device without depending on characteristics of the input device.

  • Patent number: 7319449
Abstract: An aspect of the invention provides an image display apparatus that displays a plurality of input pixels which form input image data on a display section. In that case, each input pixel can be displayed in such a manner that display pixels having gradation values differing from the gradation value of the input pixel are combined. For example, when a pixel having a particular gradation value exists as an input pixel, the pixel is not displayed on the display section as it is being kept at the gradation value, but instead, is displayed in such a manner that a plurality of display pixels having gradation values differing from the gradation value of the input pixel are combined. As a result, the same gradation value is not displayed continuously. Therefore, this results in that the occurrence of crosstalk, which is problematical particularly in a TFD liquid-crystal panel, is reduced.

  • Patent number: 7277103
Abstract: The invention provides an easy and simple method of converting the resolution of image data, which is capable of generating the high-resolution image data without incongruity, does not make a circuit in the display device complicated and does not increase the power consumption. This invention can include a portable terminal device, such as a mobile telephone or a PDA, that processes and displays image data transmitted from the outside. Image data with a plurality of grayscales can be displayed by controlling the display state of each pixel in a display unit in accordance with grayscale control pulses corresponding to the number of grayscales. For example, when a 64 grayscale display is performed, a grayscale level is defined using sixty four grayscale control pulses. Thus, it is possible to emit light from pixels in the display unit by sixty four grayscale levels.

  • Patent number: 7209144
Abstract: Aspects of the invention provide an image-display apparatus including an image display, such as a liquid-crystal display panel, where the image display can display a limited number of gray scales, interpolation is performed so that the number of gray scales displayed by the image display becomes the same as that of gray scales of obtained image data. The image-display apparatus can have the liquid-crystal display panel or the like and can be mounted on a mobile phone, a PDA, and so forth, so as to process and display image data transmitted from outside sources. First, a CPU performs a bit-slice process for the obtained image data, so as to reduce the data amount thereof. Next, a dither processing unit performs a dither process for interpolating the reduced data amount, so as to represent half-tone gray scales simulatively.
