  • Patent number: 6339804
Abstract: A digital information reproduction apparatus for compressing frames of data so as to intermittently reproduce the data in fast-forward speed. A data re-write device retrieves a reproduction-target frame for the fast-forward reproduction and a parameter-calculation-target frame exclusively for calculation of the frame data parameters. The frames then are transferred to a RAM. A decoder determines the frame data in the RAM, calculates the parameter-calculation frame data, and decodes the reproduction frame data by use of the parameter obtained as above. The described operation prevents expending the reproduction frame data with an incorrect parameter so as to normally fast-forward reproduce the compressed data. Furthermore, the present can select a frame used in the fast forward reproduction according to a feature index so that a section subjected to the fast-forward reproduction can be easily grasped by the user.

  • Publication number: 20010040579
Abstract: A search and display apparatus is formed compact in size and light in weight compared with the one heretofore. A display means, a bulk storage means and a key signal entering means are housed in a display operating unit which is provided a separate case from the driving unit 11 for reproducing the data stored in a disc storage medium, and when the two are connected to each other, the reproducing data read from the driving unit are transferred to the display operating unit, and is sequentially stored into the bulk storage means. And when carrying it around, the display operating unit is to be disconnected, and the reproduced data stored in the bulk storage means are displayed on the display means based on the operation of the key signal entering means. Therefore, the necessary data can be freely searched without carrying the thick and heavy driving unit, thus the convenience for use can be enhanced.

  • Patent number: 6292847
Abstract: A digital information reproducing apparatus in accordance with a prior art that uses a semiconductor memory to realize a memory means cannot reproduce digital data which has been encoded according to a compression coding form different from the one adopted by an incorporated decoding circuit. According to the present invention, a decoding program stored in a second semiconductor memory is selected according to a compression coding form adopted for digital data stored in a first semiconductor memory. The selected decoding program is used to decode the digital data by means of an arithmetic circuit. Thus, digital information can be reproduced irrespective of a compression coding form adopted for provided digital information.

  • Patent number: 5617387
Abstract: In an optical system comprising a light source section consisting of a semiconductor laser and a collimator lens, an objective lens for focusing a light beam on an optical disk, a beam splitter for separating part of the light beam reflected from the optical disk, a condenser lens, and a photosensor for detecting the separated light beam to produce a focusing and a tracking error signal, a plane parallel plate is provided between the light source section and the beam splitter. By rotating the plane parallel plate with an adjusting mechanism, the light beam undergoes a parallel shift, so that the intensity distribution of light being incident on the objective lens is varied and a tracking offset due to a deviation of the optical axis of the output light from the light source section can be compensated for. The plane parallel plate may be disposed between the beam splitter and the condenser lens.

  • Patent number: 5544144
Abstract: An optical head structure, employed in an optical device, in which light radiated from a predetermined light source is projected onto a predetermined recording medium through a light splitting member is disclosed. Part of the light is directed to the outside of the light splitting member and converged so as to be detected by a predetermined light detecting member. The light directed to the outside of the light splitting member is reflected at a predetermined angle by a predetermined light reflecting member. Thus, it becomes possible to make the whole volume of the optical device smaller. Also, the number of parts required in the optical head structure can be decreased.
