  • Patent number: 5498117
Abstract: A device for sidetracking a truck, which basically comprises a movable actuator element operable in a direction to and from the truck, a carriage connected to the movable actuator element, on which the truck is to be placed, the carriage means being provided, on an upper side thereof, with a lifting element for raising the truck so as to raise the truck from a floor, and a stationary actuator element connected to the movable actuator element, the stationary actuator element being extendable and retractable in a direction along the direction wherein the movable actuator means is operated with respect to the truck. With such a simple structure, the truck may be sidetracked, even in a direction orthogonal with the path along which the truck moves.

  • Patent number: 5431259
Abstract: A damping force control type hydraulic shock absorber has a piston that has main hydraulic fluid passages and valve mechanisms and also has a piston rod connected thereto. One side of the cylinder of the shock absorber is provided with a damping force control mechanism having a guide member and a shutter, which open and close a bypass passage, and a valve mechanism that generates damping force by controlling the flow of hydraulic fluid through the bypass passage. Damping force characteristics are changed by rotating the shutter with a rotary actuator. Since the damping force control mechanism is provided on the side of the cylinder and the piston is provided with only the main hydraulic fluid passages and the valve mechanisms, the size of the piston assembly is relatively small. Accordingly, the stroke of the piston rod can be increased.

  • Patent number: 5409090
Abstract: A damping force control type hydraulic shock absorber includes a cylinder having a hydraulic fluid sealed therein. A piston is slidably fitted in the cylinder to divide the inside of the cylinder into two chambers. A main hydraulic fluid passage provides communication between the two chambers and has a damping force generating mechanism. A bypass passage also provides communication between the two chambers. A cylindrical guide member is provided in the bypass passage to provide communication between two portions of the bypass passage which lead to the two chambers, respectively, through ports provided in the side wall of the guide member. A cylindrical shutter is rotatably fitted in the guide member. The shutter has openings capable of aligning with the ports. The ports and the openings cooperate to provide a damping force which changes generally linearly as the shutter rotates.

  • Patent number: 5402867
Abstract: A cylinder (7) having a hydraulic fluid sealed therein is fitted with a piston (8) having a piston rod (9) connected thereto. The piston rod (9) is provided with a bypass passage (B) (generating relatively small damping force). The passage area of the bypass passage (B) is controlled by varying the area of orifices formed by guide ports (21 and 22) and shutter ports (24 and 25) by rotating a shutter (23), thereby changing damping force characteristics. Auxiliary ports (34 and 35) are provided to open into the guide ports (21 and 22), respectively.

  • Patent number: 5394953
Abstract: A method and device for uncoupling a self-propelled truck from a carring truck, wherein an uncoupling point defined on a path is detected by a sensor so as to temporarily stop a motor of the self-propelled truck, thereby provisionally stopping the two trucks at the uncoupling point, then another motor is driven to cause disengagement in an engagement element, and thereafter only the self-propelled truck is again moved, while maintaining such disengagement, so as to complete the uncoupling of the carrying truck from the self-propelled truck.

  • Patent number: 5384706
Abstract: A suspension system for a vehicle which has a hydraulic cylinder that extends and retracts in accordance with a change in the distance between a vehicle body and an axle to vary the volumetric capacity of a working chamber defined therein, an accumulator connected to the working chamber in the hydraulic cylinder, a control valve controlling the flow rate of oil charged into and discharged from the accumulator and the hydraulic cylinder, and a vehicle level sensor detecting a change in the above-described distance. The suspension system further has a control unit that controls the control valve, on the basis of a flow control signal obtained by multiplying the detected signal from the vehicle level sensor by an amplification factor, so as to restore the vehicle to a neutral state. The control unit is arranged to increase the amplification factor when the amount of the extension or retraction of the hydraulic cylinder is close to the extent of the full stroke thereof.

  • Patent number: 5350077
Abstract: Method and device for coupling a self-propelled truck with a carrying truck, wherein the self-propelled truck is provided with a female engagement member having right and left catching spacings, whereas the carrying truck is provided with a male engagement pin, and wherein, while the self-propelled truck is moving along a rectilinear or curved path, the male engagement pin is caught and engaged in one of the right and left catching spacings, thereby effecting automatic, unmanned coupling of those two trucks. Also, an uncoupling arrangement is provided by disposing an uncoupling stand member at a proper uncoupling point and an uncoupling arm member at the self-propelled truck.

  • Patent number: 5217247
Abstract: A suspension control system for controlling the attitude of a vehicle such as an automobile includes a suspension unit including a hydraulic cylinder disposed between an axle and the body of the vehicle and an accumulator connected to the hydraulic cylinder, a pressurized hydraulic fluid source, a hydraulic fluid supplying and discharging valve operatively connected to the suspension unit and to the hydraulic fluid source and a controller for controlling the hydraulic fluid supplying and discharging valve to supply or discharge hydraulic fluid to or from the suspension unit. The suspension control system further includes a pressure sensor for detecting the pressure in the suspension unit. The controller also prevents hydraulic fluid from being discharged from the suspension unit when the pressure in the suspension unit is lower than a predetermined value.
