Abstract: An electronic component mounting apparatus includes: a component storing section for storing electronic components, a mounting head for picking up a selected electronic component from the storing section it to and carrying and mounting it on a base member of an electronic module at a designated position, and a recognition devices for recognizing the image of the component being held by the head. The component being held by the head is prevented from being mounted on the base member when it is judged to be unsuitable for mounting by the recognition device. The recognition device can identify why a component is unsuitable for mounting.
