Publication number: 20130008693Abstract: A grommet is fit externally to a wire harness to be wired in a vehicle and mounted in a through hole of a vehicle-body panel. The grommet has a small-diameter cylindrical portion molded of elastomer and through which the wire harness is tightly inserted. A radial projection in the form of bellows projects radially out from an outer peripheral position of an intermediate longitudinal part of the small-diameter portion. An outer peripheral portion is connected to the outer peripheral end of the radial projection. The outer peripheral portion has a conical tubular shape and is connected at an intermediate longitudinal position to the radial projection. An annular vehicle-body locking recess is provided on the outer peripheral surface of a large-diameter side of the outer peripheral portion. Publication number: 20120291220Abstract: Waterproof performance of a grommet is stabilized, the grommet being inserted and engaged with a through-hole having a burring in a body panel. A grommet for a wire harness is externally fitted to the wire harness routed in a vehicle and is mounted to a through-hole from which a burring of a body panel projects. The grommet includes a one-piece molded component of one of rubber and elastomer and an annular body engagement recess in an outer peripheral surface of a tubular portion through which the wire harness is inserted. A size between two side surfaces that define a bottom surface of the body engagement portion is set to be less than a projection size of the burring projecting from a periphery of the through-hole. A projecting front end surface of the burring is wedged in and pressed into contact with one of the side surfaces to serve as a seal point.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 17, 2010Publication date: November 22, 2012Applicant: SUMITOMO WIRING SYSTEMS, LTD.,Inventors: Takashi Okuhara, Tsutomu Sakata

Publication number: 20110079417Abstract: Even if a wire harness that passes a grommet is bent sharply, a vehicle body latch recess of the grommet is not deformed, thereby enhancing a sealing function. A grommet includes: an inner tube for passing electrical cables in said wire harness in a close contact manner; and an outer tube contiguous with an outer peripheral surface of said inner tube and provided with a slant wall section. The slant wall section of the outer tube is provided with a curved portion at an outer diametrical position having an outer diameter corresponding to an inner diameter of the through-hole. The curved portion has a different inclination angle from the slant wall section. An inclination angle of an outer peripheral surface of the slant wall section at a larger diameter side with respect to the curved portion is set to be smaller than an inclination angle at a smaller diameter side with respect to the curved portion.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2008Publication date: April 7, 2011Applicant: SUMITOMO WIRING SYSTEMS, LTD.Inventors: Takashi Okuhara, Tsutomu Sakata, Satoshi Ujita

Publication number: 20110073350Abstract: Even if a wire harness that passes a grommet is bent sharply, a vehicle body latch recess of the grommet is not deformed, thereby enhancing a sealing function. A grommet includes: an inner tube having a smaller diameter and passing electrical cables in a wire harness in a close contact manner; an annular coupling section protruding from an outer peripheral surface of an intermediate part between both ends of the inner tube at a pushing-in side and a drawing-out side in a longitudinal direction; and an outer tube having a larger diameter, contiguous with an outer peripheral surface of the annular coupling section, and coaxially disposed around the inner tube through a space. The outer tube is provided with a slant wall section that reduces a diameter from a larger thickness portion at a coupling position with the annular coupling section to the drawing-out side. The outer tube is provided with a vehicle body latch recess between the larger thickness portion and the slant wall section in an annular manner.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 17, 2008Publication date: March 31, 2011Applicant: Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd.Inventors: Takashi Okuhara, Tsutomu Sakato, Satoshi Ujita

Publication number: 20110073351Abstract: Even if a wire harness that passes a grommet is bent sharply, a vehicle body latch recess of the grommet is not deformed, thereby enhancing a sealing function. A grommet includes an inner tube through which electrical cables in a wire harness pass in a close contact manner, and an outer tube coupled through an annular coupling section to the inner tube and provided with a slant wall section. The slant wall section of the outer tube is provided with a curved portion at a position having an outer diameter equal to an inner diameter of a through-hole in a vehicle body panel. The curved portion has a different inclination angle from the slant wall section. An inclination angle of the slant wall section at a larger diameter side with respect to the curved portion is set to be smaller than an inclination angle at a smaller diameter side with respect to the curved portion.
