On the other hand, if the charge transfer device is formed on an N-type semiconductor substrate, electric potential of the N-type semiconductor substrate is set to be equal to or higher than that of the bias voltage (which is positive value) applied to the photoelelctric conversion elements.

    Abstract: For incorporation of substantially water-insoluble photographic additives such as couplers into hydrophilic organic colloid layers of silver halide photographic materials, a phthalic acid ester of a formula (I): ##STR1## where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may be same or different and each represents a branched alkyl group having no more than 7 carbon atoms, is used so that said additives can effectively be dispersed in the colloid layers. Accordingly, the solubility and dispersibility of the additives is improved; the long-term stability of the additive dispersion is improved, and further and latent image storability and color-forming properties of the photographic material are also improved over the prior art photographic materials.
