  • Patent number: 6598927
Abstract: A vehicular windshield is provided which eliminates the need for a hard coating and which is relatively light in weight. The vehicular windshield includes a glass surface to be wiped by a wiper, and includes a transparent resin windshield main body. The windshield main body has upper and lower mounting portions for mounting the windshield main body to a roof and a front frame of a vehicle. A glass plate is fastened to the windshield main body to form the surface for a wiper. An adhesive sheet is provided for fastening the glass plate to the windshield main body.

  • Patent number: 6540243
Abstract: To reduce the cost of a front wheel steering system for automotive three- and four-wheeled vehicles by utilizing a steering angle ratio varying means having a simple construction. In a front wheel steering system for automotive four-wheeled vehicles, a steering shaft rotatably mounted to a head pipe steers the right and left front wheels. The steering stem is disposed below the steering shaft offset from the steering shaft. The steering stem is connected to the steering shaft via a link mechanism. The right and left front wheels are connected to the steering stem via a tie rod. The link mechanism includes an upper link, a lower link, and a universal coupling connecting the upper link and the lower link. The steering shaft is disposed at the midsection between the steering stem and the universal coupling when the link mechanism is viewed in the direction of the axis of the steering shaft.

  • Publication number: 20030047930
Abstract: The front fork of a motorcycle is carried by a steering spindle mounted for angular rotation about the axis of the steering spindle in the steering head member of a motorcycle frame. The steering spindle is rotatable in bearing assemblies at opposite ends of the steering head member of the motorcycle frame, and provision is made for adjustment of the steering head angle by the inclusion in at least one of these bearing assemblies of an eccentric member. The eccentric member is arranged for assembly alternatively in either of two diametrically opposed angular orientations to position the axis of steering spindle in a corresponding one of two angular positions in the central longitudinal vertical plane of the motorcycle frame. A series of eccentric members of different eccentricity may be provided so that a wide range of steering head angle adjustment may be provided.

  • Publication number: 20020163154
Abstract: A rear wheel suspension system for a four-wheeled vehicle suitable for attaining vehicle weight reduction, setting weight distribution of the vehicle, improving vehicle design freedom, and decreasing the number of components as compared to conventional rear wheel suspension systems. The system includes a joint member mounted in a rear portion of a vehicle body with a pair of left and right front wheels secured thereto, the joint member including a roll shaft extending substantially in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body, and connecting to a vertical swing shaft extending in the transverse direction of the vehicle body. In addition, a power unit for supporting the two rear wheels is connected to a rear portion of the joint member by means of the vertical swing shaft, thereby allowing the power unit to be secured to the vehicle body rollably and swingably.

  • Patent number: 6431328
Abstract: A parking lever for drawing a cable for locking rear wheels of a three-wheeled vehicle is provided on the front body. A rear wheel lock mechanism for locking the rear wheels is provided on the rear body. A roll lock mechanism for locking the relative rotation between a joint shaft and a case body is provided on the joint case provided with the joint shaft and the case body. The cable for locking the rear wheels is extended over between the parking lever and the rear wheel lock mechanism. The cable for roll lock is extended over between the rear wheel lock mechanism and the roll lock mechanism. The torsion of the cable for locking rear wheels caused by relative roll between the front body and the rear body can be absorbed at a long distance as compared with the prior art. Excessive load is not applied to the cable for locking the rear wheels, and even if the joint case is miniaturized, there is less restriction to easily realize miniaturization of the body.

  • Publication number: 20020027030
Abstract: A joint case includes a flange, a joint shaft extending from the flange, and a case main body fitted to the joint shaft. The flange is fitted to a rear portion of a front vehicle body, whereas the side of the case main body of the joint case is fitted to a rear vehicle body. With the above construction of the joint case, the distance between the front vehicle body and the rear vehicle body can be reduced, and a reduction in the overall length of the tricycle can be obtained.
