  • Patent number: 9776434
Abstract: An inkjet printer having a platen to which a suction unit is disposed suppresses increasing the time required for printing to end and suppresses unnecessary operation of the suction fan. The inkjet printer 1 receives control data from a host computer 3, and starts operation of the suction fan 26f if a printing-related command instructing rendering image data to be printed by the inkjet head 10 in the image buffer BF is included in the received control data.

  • Patent number: 9757958
Abstract: A printer that conveys label paper or black mark paper executes an appropriate process when conveying paper that has been spliced. While conveying label paper or black mark paper by the conveyance unit 42, the inkjet printer 5 calculates the interval at which the labels or marks are disposed based on detecting the label edges or marks by a sensor disposed to the conveyance path. An error is detected if the calculated interval is shorter than a specified length. If the calculated interval is longer than the specified length, the calculated interval is compared with the previously calculated interval. If the previously calculated interval is the same as the specified length, an error is not detected. If the previously calculated interval is longer than the specified length, an error is detected.

  • Patent number: 9211734
Abstract: When a label printer detects the paper width, the paper width detection operation scans the transportation path in the paper width direction by the paper width detector not once but twice, and conveys the recording medium transportation distance L, which is longer than the gap length of the gap between labels and is shorter than the label length of each label, between the first and second paper width detection operations. Of the two positions detected as the left edge of the recording medium in the first and second detection operations, the position that is farthest left is used. Likewise, of the two positions detected as the right edge of the recording medium in the first and second detection operations, the position that is farthest right is used.

  • Patent number: 8804183
Abstract: A recording control device controls a recording mechanism section which performs recording on a recording medium by a recording head. An image expansion section expands data input from the outside to create image data for recording. An image buffer memory temporarily stores the image data created by the image expansion section. A recording control section reads the image data stored in the image buffer memory, and controls the recording mechanism section to record the read image data on the recording medium by the recording head. The recording control section controls a recording speed of the recording mechanism section on the basis of a creation speed of the image data in the image expansion section.

  • Publication number: 20140098390
Abstract: A receiver configured to receive a first command that contains a predetermined code string and a second command that does not contain the predetermined code string from a host computer. A first command analyzer configured to analyze and process only the first command received by the receiver. A buffer configured to temporarily store at least the second command received by the receiver. A second command analyzer configured to analyze and process the second command stored by the buffer. A sound generator configured to generate a sound when the first command analyzer analyzes the first command and determines that the first command includes a sound generating command. • Patent number: 8339681
Abstract: The first reading start point D of a front contact image sensor 21 and the second reading start point F of a back contact image sensor 22 are managed using a previously measured sensor-to-sensor distance L. As a result, even if there is a difference in the distance between the sensors, the first and second reading start points D and F will still be a first margin length L1 before the image reading positions A and B of the contact image sensors 21 and 22. Because the beginning of the front image information FD2 and the beginning of the back image information BD2 contained in the back-side image data BD1 in the images captured by the contact image sensors 21 and 22 match, the front image information FD2 can be extracted based on the coordinates of the back image information BD2 contained in the back-side image data BD1.

  • Patent number: 8246262
Abstract: A print media processing apparatus increases printer throughput by starting printing after setting the conveyed print medium to the printing start position, and a transportation control unit controls how far the print medium is advanced according to the length of text to be printed on the print medium. The transportation control unit advances the paper to the position where printing text of a specified length to the printing area of the paper begins.

  • Patent number: 8127913
Abstract: Transportation state evaluation methods, transportation state evaluation programs, and recording media processing devices are provided. In one embodiment, a check processing device has an insertion direction evaluation means that determines if an orientation of a check is correct or not based on a detection signal from a magnetic head, a multifeed detector and multifeed evaluation means that detect multifeeding, an enable/disable control means that enables or disables the insertion direction evaluation and multifeed detection operations of the insertion direction evaluation means and multifeed evaluation means, and a control means that unconditionally enables multifeed detection when only the insertion direction evaluation is enabled. Multifeed detection is always enabled when insertion direction evaluation is enabled because the insertion direction evaluation means can return a detection error when multifeeding occurs.

  • Patent number: 8098393
Abstract: Described are a printer and a method of controlling it, in which discarding received data and clearing data from a receive buffer is started when an off-line error occurs and the printer goes off-line. When the printer returns on-line, a control unit causes a data receiving unit to stop discarding said received data and causes sending a clear response as an on-line status report telling the host computer that the printer is returning on-line.

  • Patent number: 8077331
Abstract: Described are a printer and a method of controlling it, wherein when an out-of-paper error occurs and printing stops, a control unit clears any data in a receive buffer, and reports the out-of-paper error and print stoppage to a host computer. When a clear buffer command is then received from the host computer, the control unit clears the receive buffer again.

  • Patent number: 8002189
Abstract: A hybrid processing device that continuously reads information from a plurality of process media can set the speed of the continuous reading process appropriately to the situation. The hybrid processing device 20 has a conveyance portion 2c, a reading control unit 28, and a discharge control unit 25 that runs a discharge process according to the result of the read process, and continuously reads a plurality of checks S according to instructions from a host computer 30. The reading control unit 28 runs a read process to read all read items when the reading accuracy priority mode is selected. When the reading speed priority mode is selected, the reading control unit 28 runs a read process to read only specific read items.
