  • Patent number: 5880422
Abstract: A shift lever 1 having an improved structure for holding a conductor wire 3 in position during assembly. The conductor wire 3 has one end 31 thereof disposed in a knob 2 of the shift lever 1. The conductor wire 3 is fitted with a terminal 41 to provide an electrical connection to a switch 4. The conductor wire 3 has a base portion 33 extending from a bent portion 32 formed in an intermediate portion toward the other end 34 of the conductor wire 3. The knob 2 has a conductor wire support hole 21 provided along the base portion 33 of the conductor wire 3. The positioning of the base portion 33 of the conductor wire 3 is performed by inserting a part 51 of a forming die 5 into the conductor wire support hole 21 when forming a flesh portion 23 of the shift lever 1. The shift lever 1 according to the invention holds the conductor wire 3 in a normal position for assembly when the conductor wire 3 is fitted with the terminal 41 of the switch 4 to provide an electrical connection.

  • Patent number: 5833476
Abstract: A rotary connector apparatus having an improved structure for connecting a flexible cable 4 of the apparatus with a wire harness 7. The rotary connector apparatus includes a stator housing 1 and a rotor housing 2 rotatably mounted on the stator housing 1. The flexible cable 4 is received in a spiral formation within a space formed between the stator housing 1 and the rotor housing 2. A terminal 5 is electrically connected to an electric wire 4a exposed from the flexible cable 4. A supporter 6 is molded with the terminal 5 and fixed to at least one of the stator housing 1 and the rotor housing 2. The wire harness 7 is electrically connected to the terminal 5 by welding or the like. The supporter 6 has a holding portion 6b, 13a in the form of a through hole 6b, 13a into which a core wire 7a, 11b or a coating film 7d at the end point of the harness is inserted.

  • Patent number: 5827440
Abstract: A temperature sensor forming method and forming die are provided which perform insert-forming of a temperature sensor with a minimum of processes and in a short time. The temperature sensor formed has a temperature sensing element 1 arranged in a predetermined position inside a resin case 2. The process does not leave traces of pins that would allow water to penetrate the interior of the case. The process comprises a first step of supporting the temperature sensing element 1 with first and second slide blocks 6c and 6g. The process comprises a second step of injecting a molten forming resin 2a into a forming die 6 and retracting the first slide block 6c by injection pressure while the temperature sensing element 1 is being supported by the second slide block 6g. The process comprises a third step of retracting the second slide block 6g while injecting the molten forming resin 2a into the forming die 6.

  • Patent number: 5685728
Abstract: This invention provides a rotary connector in which flexibility is imparted against the stress applied in the transverse direction of an elastic tongue by partially reducing rigidity of the elastic tongue plate in its transverse direction. Therefore, even if the elastic tongue or the flexible cable accidentally comes into contact with the inner wall of the housings due to a deviation from the tolerance of assembly, they do not come into strong contact. The rotor housing is rotatably fitted to the stator housing. The flexible cable 3 is spirally accommodated in the space defined by both housings. The terminal 4 is electrically connected to the conductor cable 31 exposed from the flexible cable 3. The support 5A resin-molds the terminal 4 and is fixed to at least one of the stator housing and the rotor housing. The elastic tongue 8 is fixed to the support 5A and is so disposed as to extend along the flexible cable 3.

  • Patent number: 5651686
Abstract: A rotary connector device in which a flexible cable is maintained in parallel with the wall of a housing even if the supporting member is deformed, thereby reducing noise from the flexible cable and deterioration of the durability of the cable. Projections, which are crushed upon assemblage, are provided for absorbing an assemblage tolerance. The flexible cable is received spirally within the space formed between a rotor housing and a stator housing. A terminal is electrically connected to conductive wires exposed from the flexible cable and formed with the supporting member in a body. The supporting member has a connector section and a cable connecting section supported by the connector section as a cantilever. The cable connecting section is connected to each of the housings, and the connector section is connected to the cable connecting section through a predetermined gap.

  • Patent number: 5645441
Abstract: This invention provides a rotary connector device which can form a structural portion for fixing an end portion of a flexible cable to a housing by one molding step, and does not require a press mold for separating partially-connected terminals into individual terminal elements. The flexible cable 3 is accommodated spirally in a space defined between a stator housing and a rotor housing. A terminal 4A is electrically connected to a conductor cable 31 exposed from the flexible cable 3. A support 5A is fixed to at least one of the stator housing and the rotor housing. A terminal 4A has a stress concentration portion 41A, and each terminal plate 42A can be separated by bending and removing each connecting plate 43A.
