  • Patent number: 4145095
Abstract: A unit hub for a bicycle providing a bearing cone which is formed integrally with an end member extending axially from one end of a hub body, which bearing cone is provided at its root with an extension and defines a ball race carrying balls for supporting therewith one end of a drive member. The bearing cone is also provided at a middle portion of the extension with pawls and is screwed at the fore end to a bearing ring having a ball race carrying balls for supporting the other end of the drive member. The hub has fewer parts than known unit hubs, is more easily assembled and is smaller in size.

  • Patent number: 4119892
Abstract: A light emitting indicating circuit comprises a first and second inverter circuit which are each comprised of a pair of complementary transistors connected in series. A motor driving coil and a capacitor are connected in series between respective outputs of the inverter circuits, and the inverter circuits are effective for applying repetitive complementary electrical driving signals for repetitively flowing a current in alternating directions through the series combination of motor driving coil and capacitor to repetitively energize the motor driving coil. An indicating circuit responsive to the electrical driving signals indicates energization of the motor driving coil. The indicating circuit is comprised of a light emitting diode connected in parallel with the motor driving coil for emitting light to indicate energization of the motor driving coil.

  • Patent number: 4106357
Abstract: A multistage gear crank for a bicycle, comprising at least two chain gears and a crank body, which chain gears together with a mounting plate for mounting the two gears to the crank body are formed by punching only one metallic sheet.

  • Patent number: 4089231
Abstract: A multistage freewheel for a bicycle, comprising a plurality of at least two or more sprockets which are rotatably and axially movably supported to a cylindrical support, each of which sprockets is individually applied with rotary resistance. When a driving chain is shifted by a derailleur the rotary resistance is increased following the chain's shifting motion and the rotary resistance is less at the single sprocket, thereby securing safety in the bicycle operation.

  • Patent number: 4079958
Abstract: A hub anti-escape device for a bicycle having a pair of supports, preferably dish-like shaped, which are inserted over a main shaft of a hub for the bicycle to be engageable with portions formed at the outer surfaces of a pair of fork ends of the bicycle frame respectively and subjected to a resistance above a given amount against movement of the supports in the radial direction, i.e., the direction in which the main shaft comes off the fork ends. A spring, mounted on the outside of at least one of the supports, urges the support towards the outer surface of the fork end, and is compressed with tightening structure for the hub, so that the device is adapted to prevent the escape of the main shaft from the two supports by the engagement of each of the supports with each of the fork ends even when the tightening structure loosens or the main shaft is not completely secured.

  • Patent number: 4069725
Abstract: A three speed transmission hub for a bicycle, which is adapted to allow a gear frame with planetary gears and a ring gear with inner teeth in mesh with the planetary gears to be axially movable with respect to a hub shaft and is provided between the gear frame and a drive member with a clutch means engageable only in high speed transmission so that the high speed transmission may be exactly carried out. Relay pawls are provided between the ring gear and the drive member through which the drive force can, in medium speed transmission, be conveyed from the drive member to the ring gear exclusive of the gear frame which is thereby relieved.

  • Patent number: 4009621
Abstract: An assembly of chain sprockets and cranks for a bicycle, a plurality of which sprockets are formed of a punched metal plate and fixed at a predetermined interval to mounting arms. The arms are provided with a plurality of mounting seats formed inwardly stepwise from the utmost ends of the arms respectively so that each of the chain sprockets is fixed to each of the seats by means of a fixing means, whereby the assembly is inexpensive to manufacture by saving loss of materials, each sprocket can be changed independently, and the assembly is capable of preventing a driving chain from falling between the sprockets.
