  • Publication number: 20040218313
Abstract: There is provided a combined magnetic head including an inductive head and an MR head, which are fabricated separately and joined together. The inductive head includes a magnetic core having a plurality of magnetic films with non-magnetic films interleaved therebetween, a coil for inducing a magnetic flux in the magnetic core, and an insulator serving as a write gap at which the magnetic flux produces a flux leakage. End faces of the magnetic films are disposed to face the write gap. Accordingly, stronger read signals can be obtained and data stored with increasing recording densities can be encoded and decoded.

  • Publication number: 20040037010
Abstract: A magneto-resistance effect type head (MR head) is formed of a laminated structure by using a thin film forming technique. In the magneto-resistance effect type head, an insulating layer, a lower shield layer, a lower gap layer, a magnetic resistance effect layer, an upper gap layer, an upper shield layer, and a protective layer are layered in sequence on one end of a base plate. A fine concave-convex portion is formed by means of etching on one end face of the base plate of which side is adjacent to the insulating layer so that the insulating layer can strictly be adhered to the base plate. The concave-convex portion is formed by means of ion etching using Argon gas or the like so as to be a surface roughness in the range of 1 to 100 nm.

  • Patent number: 6348334
Abstract: This invention provides a novel polypeptide useful in the field of medicines, a novel DNA which encodes the novel polypeptide, a recombinant DNA molecule which contains the novel DNA, a transformant transformed with the novel DNA or the recombinant DNA molecule, a process for the purification of the novel polypeptide, a process for the production of the novel polypeptide, an antibody which recognize the novel polypeptide, an oligonucleotide complementary to the novel DNA and a novel screening method. Particularly this invention provides a novel polypeptide which is Fas ligand or a fragment thereof. This novel polypeptide can be used as an effective ingredient of a medicament for regulating the apoptosis in a living body. This novel polypeptide is obtained by identifying a DNA fragment which encodes the novel polpeptide, transforming a desired host with a recombinant DNA molecule which contains the DNA fragment and purifying the novel polypeptide produced by the resulting transformant.

  • Publication number: 20010047404
Abstract: A Web site address management apparatus that automatically executes updating of a URL list. The address management apparatus detects connection trials made by a browser for connection to Web sites, and records the number of instances of success in connection (instances of reference) and the number of continuous occurrences of connection failure with respect to each of URLs of the Web sites. If a URL addition condition is satisfied by the number of instances of reference in a predetermined time period with respect to one of the URLs, the address management apparatus adds the URL to the URL list. If the number of instances of reference in a predetermined time period with respect to one of the URLs is smaller than a predetermined number, the address management apparatus deletes the URL from the URL list.
