  • Publication number: 20050123861
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a substrate for MVA type or transreflective liquid crystal display device capable of obtaining a substrate for liquid crystal display device having a good display quality while simplifying the production process and a method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device using same. A positive-working resist is spread over a glass substrate to form a resist layer thereon. The resist layer is exposed to light and developed to form a resist pattern having linear patterns. The linear pattern in the resist pattern is then irradiated with ultraviolet rays. The resist pattern is then subjected to heat treatment at a predetermined temperature to form a structure having a flat portion formed by the melt flow of the linear pattern irradiated with ultraviolet rays and a protrusion formed by the reflow of the linear pattern unirradiated with ultraviolet rays.

  • Publication number: 20050099582
Abstract: In a liquid crystal display device, liquid crystal molecules are oriented in a vertical direction to the first substrate and the second substrate by the first molecule orientation film and the second molecule orientation film, respectively, in a non-driving state. And, a structural pattern is formed so as to extend in a first direction parallel to a surface of the liquid crystal layer and so as to form, in a driving state, an electric field periodically changing in a second direction that is parallel to the liquid crystal layer and vertical to the first direction. Then, the liquid crystal molecules substantially tilt in the first direction in the driving state.

  • Publication number: 20020013053
Abstract: A method of producing a microwave device using a magnetic garnet single crystal film involves cutting a garnet signal crystal substrate into chips. Thereafter, a magnetic garnet signal crystal film is grown on the surface of each of the garnet single crystal substrate chips by means of the liquid crystal epitaxial growth method. This method is advantageous in that no breakage of the single crystal substrate occurs during the growth of the magnetic garnet single crystal film, chipping does not occurs and a small variation in thickness of the film among substrates is achieved.

  • Publication number: 20010026347
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device of the present invention has a structure in which vertically aligned liquid crystal is sealed between a TFT substrate and a CF substrate. Pixel electrodes in which slits are provided are formed on the TFT substrate, while cell gap holding spacers and domain defining projections are formed on the CF substrate. For example, positive type photoresist is coated on a common electrode. Then, first exposure is executed by using a mask for light-shielding spacer forming regions and projection forming regions, and then second exposure is executed by using a mask for light-shielding the spacer forming regions. Then, the photoresist is developed. Accordingly, the spacers and the projections, each having a different height, can be formed simultaneously.
