  • Patent number: 6124685
Abstract: A method for correcting distortion of an image displayed on a screen of a display device. The method includes steps of taking a picture of a test pattern displayed on the screen of the display device in an adjusting state, extracting distortion information representing distortion of the test pattern from an image obtained from a result of the above step, extracting additional information as a distortion characteristic, the distortion information being approximately represented by a plurality of basic information items which are known and the additional information coupled to the basic information items, storing the additional information in a storage unit, reproducing the distortion information using the additional information stored in the storage unit and the plurality of basic information items when an image is displayed on the screen of the display device, and controlling the display device based on the reproduced distortion information so that the distortion is canceled.

  • Patent number: 5576975
Abstract: Method and apparatus for obtaining distance data from an object to a lens by obtaining an image of the object by an image input unit for forming an image of the object through the lens on an image receiving plane. Two observed images Is and Is' with different blurs from the image input unit are obtained by making a position of the lens and/or a position of the image receiving plane with regard to the object different by a minute distance .DELTA.z. A filtering process is then performed by applying a filter to the two input observed images Is and Is', thereby providing two output images Fs and Fs'. The distance a up to the object is calculated by using the two output images Fs and Fs' obtained by the filtering process based on the relation between the two output images Fs and Fs' and radius s of the blur and the distance a from the lens to the object.

  • Patent number: 5215093
Abstract: An ultrasonic color Doppler diagnostic apparatus for displaying at least two successive frames of original images of the two-dimensional images obtained for each ultrasonic interframe time, to find and display a natural interpolated image. The apparatus includes a shape parameter calculating unit which calculates the shape parameters characterizing the shape of a blood flow region on the original images and, a shape parameter interpolating unit which calculates the shape parameters interpolated at a designated timing designated in the interframe time from the shape parameters, the interframe time. In addition and the designated timing, an image converting unit is provided which converts the image of at least one frame of the original image in the plurality of original images in accordance with the shape parameters at a designated timing found by the shape parameter interpolating means to obtain the interpolated image.

  • Patent number: 5214504
Abstract: A moving video image estimation system wherein based on an original video image of time n and time n+1, the centroid, the principal axix of inertia, the moment about the principal axis of inertia and the moment about the axis perpendicular to the principal axis of inertia are obtained. By using this information, an affine transformation for transforming the original video image at time n to the original video image at time n+1 is obtained. Based on the infinitesimal transformation (A), {exp (At), and exp (A(t-1))} obtained by making the affine transformation continuous with regard to time is executed on the original video image at time n and time n+1. The results are synthesized to perform an interpolation between the frames. {exp (a(t-1))} is applied to the original video system time n+1. The video image after time n+1 is thereby protected.

  • Patent number: 4908872
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and apparatus for extracting contour lines from a pattern obtained in image processing. The disclosed method and apparatus makes it possible to obtain the contour lines in real-time and, moreover, can be easily incorporated into hardware. To achieve these objects, a invention applies the simplified discrimination method for selecting pixels, which form the pattern contour, wherein each pixel is examined within groups of pixel, i.e. X-axis and Y-axis groups. The magnitude of a gray level gradient of each pixel is compared with those of neighboring pixels located in either direction of X-axis group or Y-axis. The pixel which has the maximum magnitude of gray level gradient among those of adjacent pixels is discriminated from each group as contour date. This discrimination method is simple and remarkably improved. When contour lines for two groups are combined, the pattern contours can be easily obtained.
