  • Patent number: 5051846
Abstract: A magnetic tape is wound on a rotary drum through a predetermined angular range greater than a standard tape winding angle. The predetermined angular range has a first portion corresponding to the standard tape winding angle and a second portion extending outward of the first portion. A main information signal is recorded into a main information recording track on the magnetic tape which extends in a region corresponding to the first portion of the predetermined angular range. A sub information signal is recorded into a sub information recording track on the magnetic tape which extends along an extension line of the main information recording track and which extnds in a region corresponding to the second portion of the predetermined angular range. A plurality of magnetic heads have different track widths respectively and are mounted on the rotary drum. The magnetic heads form respective different tracks which together constitute the sub information recording track.

  • Patent number: 4734798
Abstract: A helical scan type of recording apparatus includes means for controlling the supply of recording current to one or more rotary recording heads and erase current to one or more erase heads whose width is selected to produce erasure of each tape signal track twice in succession, the control being executed such that when recording is to be ended, the erase current supply is first terminated and thereafter the recording supply current is terminated after a specific time interval has elapsed, thereby eliminating from the end of each recorded portions the occurrence of a short tape segment which has been erased and not thereafter recorded on. Disturbances during playback, e.g. of a displayed video signal, are thereby eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4656527
Abstract: A magnetic recording and playback apparatus capable of simultaneously recording a plurality of information signals on a single magnetic recording medium and, thereby allowing recording a plurality of broadcast programs unattended. A signal to be recorded and associated with one a plurality of input composite video signals and a signal subjected to signal processing such that a vertical sync signal of another composite video signal is synchronous with that of the one composite video signal are applied to respective rotary heads, the two signals being simultaneously recorded on the recording medium.

  • Patent number: 4635140
Abstract: In a digital signal recording and playback system, digital data is provided by the pulse code modulation of an analog signal. The digital data is modulated into a digital signal in such a manner as to have a maximum reversal interval equal to the bit period of the original data and a minimum reversal interval equal to one half the bit period. Such a digital signal is recorded into and reproduced out of a recording medium. During recording, frequencies are selected for a first or high frequency component which repeats at the minimum reversal interval and a second or low frequency component which repeats at the maximum reversal interval, such that the playback level of the first frequency component becomes sufficiently lower than that of the second. During playback, the first frequency component is further attenuated relative to the second or fully removed and the playback level or the slice level is controlled with regard to the second component of the reproduced digital signal.

  • Patent number: 4425584
Abstract: A video signal recording and/or reproducing system for recording a video signal onto a recording medium and reproducing the video signal from the recording medium comprises a discriminating signal generating circuit for generating a plurality of first discriminating signals respectively having a frequency of 2nf which is 2n times a predetermined frequency f (n is an integer greater than one), and a plurality of second discriminating signals respectively having a frequency of (2n-1)f, a mixing and multiplexing circuit for respectively and alternately changing over the first and second discriminating signals obtained from the discriminating signal generating circuit, every recording unit of one track, and mixing and multiplexing the first and second discriminating signals into the video signal, a recording device for recording the above multiplexed signal obtained from the mixing and multiplexing circuit, onto the recording medium, a reproducing device for reproducing the recorded multiplexed signal from the re

  • Patent number: 4414586
Abstract: A pilot signal recording and reproducing system comprises a frequency generating circuit for successively generating a first frequency, a third frequency, a second frequency, and a fourth frequency in this order or in a reverse order for every recording unit of one track, where the first and second frequencies are mutually separated frequencies, selected from a first frequency group, and the third and fourth frequencies respectively are frequencies approximately equal to the first and second frequencies, selected from a second frequency group, a recording device for recording a frequency obtained from the frequency generating circuit as a pilot signal together with an information signal onto a recording medium, a comb filter for frequency-selecting pilot signals recorded on both sides of a track which is to be reproduced, where these pilot signals have mutually different frequencies and are included as crosstalk within a reproduced signal reproduced from the recording medium, a control circuit for controlling
