  • Publication number: 20050018236
Abstract: There are provided an information processing apparatus and information processing method, which can implement a job or printer device monitoring scheme that allows the user to easily detect status of printing apparatus in advance. The status of a physical printer device corresponding to a predetermined logical printer, which is set as an object to be monitored, is monitored, and a result based on monitoring is displayed on a computer display as a resident display. For example, when the resident display is displayed as an icon on the task tray on the computer display, it does not disturb display of windows of other document creation applications. Also, the user need not purposely instruct to launch a monitor utility upon printing. Hence, a job or printer device monitoring scheme which is very convenient for the user can be implemented.

  • Publication number: 20040257604
Abstract: To solve such a problem that it takes time to display a print setting display screen of a virtual printer to which functions of member printer drivers having different characteristics have been reflected, in an information processing apparatus for making job control of the virtual printer constructed by a plurality of member printers, a conflicting process based on each function of the plurality of member printers is executed, a construction of the member printers is examined in association with display control for reflecting a conflict result to a setting display screen of the virtual printer, and control is made to as to visualize an advance situation of the conflicting process on the basis of an examination result.

  • Publication number: 20040160613
Abstract: A print control program executed by an information processing apparatus, which spools print data created and spooled via a print data creation module such as a printer driver again and concurrently performs the re-spooling and output of the print data to a resending destination or an alternate device. It is thereby possible to speed up a throughput of the output on alternation of printing or resending.

  • Publication number: 20040156069
Abstract: A print control program, which is executed by an information processing apparatus so as to transmit print data to an image-forming device and record an image, causes the information processing apparatus to re-spool as a second spool file print data that has already been spooled once as a first spool file by an operating system. A portion of the print data that is re-spooled as the second spool file is transmitted to the image-forming device during re-spooling. As result, spooling of the second spool file linked to the first spool file, and transmission to the image-forming device, is more efficient.

  • Publication number: 20040036908
Abstract: There is provided an information processing apparatus that is capable of performing alternate processing even if alternate printing conditions set for processing apparatuses that perform alternate processing are different. The information processing apparatus generates a print job to be processed by a printer. Alternate printing conditions are set as conditions under which the printer is inhibited from performing printing. Whether alternate printing is to be performed or not by another printer is determined according to the set alternate printing conditions and the status of the printer. If it is determined that alternate printing is to be performed, the print job is transmitted to the other printer so that alternate printing can be performed by the other printer. The set alternate printing conditions are managed in association with each print job, and whether alternate printing is to be performed or not is determined according to the alternate printing conditions managed in association with each print job.

  • Patent number: 6654137
Abstract: A print system is provided which is capable of selecting a client to which detailed print information is transmitted from among a plurality of clients when a user performs manual-feed printing in a network environment. In a network print system, for example, when a manual-feed-specified print is specified, a command for a manual-feed-specified print is added to the header part of print data of a print job. Then, when a server obtains an offline state of a printer, the server notifies the client of the offline status. The client receiving the notification displays a dialogue which notifies the user of the timing at which manual feeding is performed. It is also possible to provide an event request of a manual-feed timing to an application.

  • Publication number: 20020085228
Abstract: An information processing apparatus and a pull print printing system are provided, which, according to a print instruction (print request, from a user, hold print data to be an object of printing, generate reference information for performing pull print corresponding to the held print data and utilize the generated reference information as reference information for requesting printing in order to causing an IPP printing apparatus to perform printing.

  • Patent number: 6115132
Abstract: A client transmits only job information of print data to a server, the server manages a print order in accordance with the job information, and if printable, the client transmits the print data directly to a printer. After the print is completed, the printer notifies the server of a print completion, and upon reception of this print completion notice, the server instructs the client to delete the print data. In a print system on a network configured as above, the network traffic is not increased, a large memory capacity is not necessary for the server so that the server load is reduced, the job management of the server can be performed by the client, the completion of a print operation can be monitored, and a print operation is possible even if the server is in an error state.

  • Patent number: 5900876
Abstract: The conventional technology of designating a page with a scroll bar or by a dialogue and displaying the designated page can only display the designated page. According to the present invention, when an icon displayed in the form of a book in open state is designated with a mouse, the designated position is judged, and, if it is on the right-side page, the image of the designated page is displayed in compressed state to the designated point, and an underlying page is displayed. Then the designated page is turned over and the images of the succeeding two pages are displayed. When the left-side page is designated, the preceding two pages are displayed through a similar process.
