Abstract: The double-row self-aligning roller bearing includes an outer ring having a spherical raceway surface, and each of rollers in two rows has an outer peripheral surface whose cross-sectional shape corresponds to the raceway surface of the outer ring. The rollers in the two rows have different lengths from each other, and the length of the longer rollers is equal to or greater than 36% of a bearing width. A ratio of a contact angle of the shorter rollers relative to a contact angle of the longer rollers is within a range of 1:4 to 1:2. The contact angle of the shorter rollers has a range of 3° to 5°, and the contact angle of the longer rollers has a range of 11° to 14°.

Abstract: A propeller fan according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a shaft provided a rotation axis of the propeller fan, and a blade provided on an outer peripheral side of the shaft. The blade has a trailing edge on a rear side of the blade in a rotation direction of the propeller fan. The trailing edge includes a first trailing edge located on an innermost side of the trailing edge, and a second trailing edge adjacent to and outward of the first trailing edge. Where an innermost point of the first trailing edge is a first connection point, a connection point between the first trailing edge and the second trailing edge is a second connection point, and a straight line that extends through the rotation axis and the first connection point is a reference line, the second connection point is located forward of the reference line in the rotation direction, or located on the reference line, and the second trailing edge is located rearward of the second connection point in the rotation direction.
Abstract: The present invention provides an actinic ray-sensitive or radiation-sensitive resin composition having excellent storage stability during long-term storage. Abstract: An attached object detection apparatus includes a setting part, a calculator, and a detector. A setting part sets a plurality of divided regions within a captured image captured by an image capturing apparatus. A calculator calculates, for each of the plurality of divided regions and based on luminance of pixels in the divided region, a representative luminance value and an amount of luminance dispersion. A detector detects, as an attached region that has an attached object, a divided region among the plurality of divided regions that satisfies the following conditions: i) a first difference is equal to or smaller than a first predetermined difference, ii) a second difference is equal to or smaller than a second predetermined difference, and iii) the representative luminance value of the current divided region is equal to or smaller than a first predetermined value.
Abstract: Compositions and methods for controlling pests are provided. The methods involve transforming organisms with a nucleic acid sequence encoding an insecticidal protein. In particular, the nucleic acid sequences are useful for preparing plants and microorganisms that possess insecticidal activity. Thus, transformed bacteria, plants, plant cells, plant tissues and seeds are provided. Compositions are insecticidal nucleic acids and proteins of bacterial species. The sequences find use in the construction of expression vectors for subsequent transformation into organisms of interest, as probes for the isolation of other homologous (or partially homologous) genes. The insecticidal proteins find use in controlling, inhibiting growth or killing lepidopteran, coleopteran, dipteran, fungal, hemipteran, and nematode pest populations and for producing compositions with insecticidal activity.
Abstract: A photodetecting device includes a semiconductor photodetecting element including a plurality of pixels distributed two-dimensionally and a mount substrate including a plurality of signal processing units arranged to process output signals from the corresponding pixels. The semiconductor photodetecting element includes, for each of the pixels, a plurality of avalanche photodiodes arranged to operate in Geiger mode, a plurality of quenching resistors each electrically connected in series with a respective avalanche photodiodes, and a through-electrode electrically connected to the plurality of quenching resistors. Each of the signal processing units includes a current mirror circuit electrically connected to the plurality of avalanche photodiodes via the corresponding through-electrode and arranged to output a signal corresponding to output signals from the plurality of avalanche photodiodes.
Abstract: A photodetector device includes an avalanche photodiode array substrate formed from compound semiconductor. A plurality of avalanche photodiodes arranged to operate in a Geiger mode are two-dimensionally arranged on the avalanche photodiode array substrate. A circuit substrate includes a plurality of output units which are connected to each other in parallel to form at least one channel. Each of the output units includes a passive quenching element and a capacitative element. The passive quenching element is connected in series to at least one of the plurality of avalanche photodiodes. The capacitative element is connected in series to at least one of the avalanche photodiodes and is connected in parallel to the passive quenching element.
Abstract: A softening agent composition including (1) a silicone polymer, (2) a water-repellent polymer, (3) an emulsifier, and (4) a liquid medium that is water or a mixture of water and an organic solvent. Also disclosed is a method for producing the softening agent composition which includes producing a water-repellent polymer by polymerizing, in the presence of the silicone polymer, a monomer that constitutes the water-repellent polymer. The water-repellent polymer may be at least one selected from the group consisting of fluorine-containing polymers and non-fluorine-containing polymers. Also disclosed is a method for treating a substrate with the softening agent composition and a substrate treated with the softening agent composition.

Abstract: A layer transfer device includes a supply reel, a take-up reel, a driving source, a releasable restraining device, a heating roller, a pressure roller, and a controller. The driving source drives the take-up reel. The releasable restraining device is capable of switching to a restraining state in which a multilayer film is put under restraint in being drawn out from the supply reel and to a release state in which the restraint is lifted. The controller is configured such that when the driving source is generating the mechanical power, the releasable restraining device is in the restraining state if an image area in which an image is formed on the sheet is not present in a layer transfer position between the heating roller and the pressure roller, and the releasable restraining device is in the release state if the image area is present in the layer transfer position.
Abstract: This disclosure relates to the field of molecular biology. Provided are novel genes that encode pesticidal proteins. These pesticidal proteins and the nucleic acid sequences that encode them are useful in preparing pesticidal formulations and in the production of transgenic pest-resistant plants. Methods to create or alter pesticidal proteins are provided for altered or enhanced pesticidal activity.

Abstract: An adhered substance detection apparatus includes a controller configured to function as a determination part, an extractor, and a detector. The determination part determines a representative edge direction using a predetermined angle range as a unit for each pixel area of a plurality of pixel areas of a photographic image photographed by a photographing device, the representative edge direction being determined for each of the pixel areas based on an edge angle of each pixel included in the pixel area. The extractor extracts an array pattern in which a plurality of the pixel areas having a same representative edge direction are continuously arranged along a predetermined scanning direction based on the representative edge directions of the pixel areas determined by the determination part. The detector detects whether an adhered substance area exists on a lens of the photographing device based on the array pattern extracted by the extractor.
