  • Patent number: 5969839
Abstract: An optical communications device is disclosed which is equipped with a transmission unit adapted to send binary-coded electrical pulse signals to another optical communications device in the form of optical pulse signals. The transmission unit includes a modulator for producing an electrical pulse signal of a narrow pulse width only at each of rising and falling edges in the binary-coded electrical pulse signals and an electro-optic converter for converting the electrical pulse signal of a narrow pulse width into an optical pulse signal of a narrow pulse signal. As an alternative, the transmission unit includes a modulator which produces an electrical pulse signal of a narrow pulse width for each bit in the binary-coded electrical pulse signals only when it is at a high level and an electro-optic converter which converts the electrical pulse signal of a narrow pulse width into an optical pulse signal of a narrow pulse width.

  • Patent number: 5959213
Abstract: A semiconductor differential pressure measuring device comprising two measurement diaphragms and two detection sensors provided in a semiconductor substrate using micromachining techniques, and a computing circuit which computes the differences between the two sensor outputs, wherein a communicating hole is provided for applying pressure to each diaphragm so that the diaphragms operate in opposite phases by differential pressure, and two detecting sensors are provided on each diaphragm for detecting displacement or strain of each diaphragm caused by the differential pressure applied to the respective diaphragm, whereby detecting the differences in displacement or strain cancels the static pressure error and temperature error so that the invention has excellent temperature and static pressure characteristics, and whereby the computing circuit comprises a bridge using the two detecting sensors, which substantially reduces the cost of the device.

  • Patent number: 5936792
Abstract: A positioning adaptive control method and positioning device which allow rapid positioning of a head by speed-controlling a seek operation in an information storage device such as a magnetic disk unit. The seek operation moves the head to a vicinity of a target track and a following operation causes the head to accurately follow a position on the target track when the head is positioned in the vicinity of the target track. These operations are controlled based on data recorded in sectors formed on a recording plane of a disk. A variable gain of an acceleration feed forward signal is controlled sequentially by an adaptive control rule so that a deviation signal between a target speed and an actual speed of the head is reduced when the speed of the head is shifted from an acceleration or constant speed state to a deceleration state under speed control.

  • Patent number: 5863354
Abstract: Thin-film photoelectric conversion elements are spaced from each other on an insulating belt-like film. Respective common conductive tapes are soldered to the terminal electrodes of the elements at the two edges of the film. The common conductive tape is in contact with non-adhesive resin in gap portions between adjacent photoelectric conversion elements. For forming a module, the assembly can be cut at these portions, followed by removal of the non-adhesive resin to expose the common conductive tape for external connection of the module.

  • Patent number: 5828486
Abstract: On the output side of an optical fiber which optically amplifies a wavelength division multiplexed signal light to output amplified signal light, a first optical divider is provided. The amplified signal light is partially divided by the divider and is converted to an electric signal by an photoelectric converter. The electric signal is compared with a prescribed reference value. The multiplexed signal light is controlled depending on a comparison result. Moreover, a second optical divider is provided. A part of the amplified signal light is made incident on a variable wavelength band-pass light filter which selectively passes signal light of a prescribed wavelength. The light filter is swept with a sweep signal whereby the number of channels of the signal light is detected. The foregoing reference value is set depending on the number of the channels of the signal light by a reference voltage generation circuit. The optical amplifier is controlled depending on the reference value.
