  • Patent number: 5143952
Abstract: A composite, molded article is prepared by forming a W/O emulsion containing a vinyl monomer, water, a cement, a polymerization initiator and an emulsifier, followed by molding and hardening. The emulsifier includes a neutralization product of an amide-containing amine with an organic sulfonic acid or an organic acid phosphate. The amide-containing amine is a condensation product obtained by reacting a fatty acid having 8-24 carbon atoms with an amino compound having the general formula (I) or (II):R.sup.1 R.sup.2 N[(CH.sub.2).sub.x --NH].sub.y H (I)R.sup.3 N[(CH.sub.2).sub.z NH.sub.2 ].sub.2 (II)wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 each represent, independently from each other, hydrogen, an alkyl group haaving 1-24 carbon atoms or an alkenyl group having 1-24 carbon atoms, x is an integer of 1-4, y is an integer of 1-8 and z is an integer of 1-4.

  • Patent number: 5059371
Abstract: In the case of extruding a W/O type emulsion having a high viscosity obtained by stirring a mixture of a vinyl monomer solution composed of a vinyl monomer which is water insoluble and in a liquid state at normal temperature, a surface active agent having a hydrophilic-lipophylic balance of 3 to 6, and a polymerization catalyst with water, cement, and synthetic fibers through a die, at least one rectifying plate having a given form is disposed in the die near the outlet thereof to direct the synthetic fibers in the W/O type emulsion to the extruding direction. When the tabular plate obtained by extrusion-molding the W/O type emulsion by the method of this invention is hardened and dried, a light-weight and high-strength plastic concrete suitable for building materials is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4504318
Abstract: A light-weight high-strength plastic concrete is produced by forming a water-in-oil type inverted emulsion from a cement slurry, vinyl monomers, and a polyalkylene glycol derivative having terminal carboxyl groups, said polyalkylene glycol being an addition product of a polyalkylene glycol shown by the following general formula and a dibasic acid anhydride ##STR1## wherein R represents an alkyl group having one or more alkyl group and polymerizing and hardening the inverted emulsion and drying it.
