  • Patent number: 4956987
Abstract: A high speed rotary cutter includes a toothed counterwheel which has plural radial slots extending in the axial directions. First cutting blades are slidably received in the radial slots, each of which has a first cutting edge on its outer end. The first cutting edge is inclined to the line which is perpendicular to the advancing direction of the continuous corrugated strip. The movement of the first cutting blade between a projected and restored position thereof is controlled by a fixed cam which is located inside of the toothed counterwheel. The rotary cutter also includes a second cutting blade which has a second cutting edge on its outer end and is aligned to the first cutting blade so that the continuous corrugated strip is sheared at the crossing point of the first and second cutting blades. The first and the second cutting blades are biased to be engaged with each other for cutting the fin.

  • Patent number: 4834700
Abstract: A ring-shaped corrugated filter element blank having radially alternate peak and valley folds is placed on a first mold having as many first concentric projections as the number of the peak folds of the ring-shaped blank and as many first concentric grooves as the number of the valley folds of the ring-shaped blank, with the peak folds fitted respectively over the first projections and the valley folds fitted respectively in the first grooves. Then, the ring-shaped blank is pressed between the first mold and a second mold, the second mold having second projections lying along concentric lines fitting respectively in the first grooves with the valley folds received therein, and second concentric grooves receiving respectively the first projections with the peak folds fitted thereover. The ring-shaped blank is heated while it is being pressed between the first and second molds, thereby forming a ring-shaped filter element. Thereafter, the ring-shaped filter element is cooled.

  • Patent number: 4718884
Abstract: Apparatus and method for forming an axial flow filter element from a fan or sectorial shaped sheet having parallel curved ends, straight sides converging at an angle less than 180.degree. and a plurality of curved ridges and valleys extending between the sides parallel to the curved ends. Holding wedges are inserted into the valleys in the upper side of the sheet while the latter is supported on a table. The pitch between the holding wedges is then reduced uniformly to reduce the radial length of the sheet. The sheet is then partially rounded into a semi-circular shape to increase the central angle of the sectorial shape sheet to as much as 180.degree. by forcing the wider convex end of the reduced sheet toward a circular post centrally engaging the midpoint of the smaller concave end of the sheet.

  • Patent number: 4637132
Abstract: An apparatus for automatically assembling a heat exchanger core assembly comprised of a pair of inserts and a plurality of tubes and corrugated fins arranged in an alternate manner. The assembled core elements are guided along a guide rail means while being fed by a pair of chain attachments. The core elements are then unloaded by elevatable guide rail means and removing means including compressible clamping jaws.

  • Patent number: 4613034
Abstract: An apparatus for conveying continuous corrugated members including a guide plate having receiving and discharging ends of the corrugated members, a pair of guide rails located at the lateral opposite sides of the guide plate, conveyance bars having rolling wheels which can roll on the guide rails and flanges for providing predetermined space between the adjacent conveyance bars, a device for feeding the corrugated members onto the receiving end of the guide plate one by one, endless chains for causing the rolling wheels to continuously rotate on the guide rails in order to roll the rolling wheels on the guide rails, and a bar receiving device provided at the discharging end of the guide plate.

  • Patent number: 4486933
Abstract: Method and apparatus for assembling a core for a heat exchanger having front and rear inserts, a predetermined number of tubes and fins which are alternatively arranged between the front and rear inserts, comprising two parallel rows of horizontally moving chain attachments for receiving and carrying these core parts an insert throwing-in station, a tube throwing-in station and a fin throwing-in station, which stations are arranged in this order along the direction of the movement of the chain attachments.

  • Patent number: 4480456
Abstract: Cutting of a corrugated fin into predetermined lengths for a radiator in a vehicle. The phase mating is, when the cutter is moved in the direction opposite to the corrugated member, effected at the correcting point where the torque in the cutter is the same as the torque at a cutting point where the corrugated member is moved synchronizingly with the cutter. Thus, automatic phase mating is effected, thereby causing the fin to be cut precisely at a trough of the fin.
