  • Patent number: 6877106
Abstract: To achieve a transfer of image data of large capacity from a host system side to a display side and a transfer of a far small quantity of data from the display side to the host system side with the maximum efficiency. An image display method which transfers image data between a host system side executing an application and a display side displaying an image, which includes the steps of: managing image data by the host system side, which belongs to a window in accordance with a sub-area obtained by dividing a display area of the display side, the window that is a region making sense in an image space of which the application is conscious; transferring the image data as a unit of a packet to the display side via the digital I/F; developing the image data transferred in a panel memory of the display side; grasping conditions concerning a transfer error in a unit of a window; and grasping the conditions of the transfer error through a signal line by the host system side.

  • Patent number: 6778168
Abstract: An image display system includes a host system for executing an application program, a display connected to this host system, and an interface for connecting the host system to the display and used to display an image on the display. This interface enables packetized data including ID information to be transferred from the host system to the display. The interface is composed of a first interface for transferring packetized data together with packet order information and a second interface for enabling less data than the capacity of the first interface to be transferred from the display to the host system together with information of a packet transfer error recognized according to the order information.

  • Patent number: 5909262
Abstract: A liquid crystal display cell includes a voltage amplification function therein for driving the cell with an AC voltage. The cell includes gate lines running in a first direction, a source line running in a second direction different from the first direction, a switching means which is turned on and off by a voltage applied to a first gate line so as to supply a voltage from the source line, a fixed capacitance capacitor is connected to the source line via said switching means, and a variable capacitance capacitor is connected to the source line via said switching means in parallel to said constant capacitor. The variable capacitor is connected to a second gate line which is independent of the first gate line, and the capacitance of the variable capacitor changes according to the voltage applied thereto through a second gate line.

  • Patent number: 5892493
Abstract: The quality of an image is improved even if the duration of data voltage is short for application. A gate line driver 34 sequentially applies the gate voltage to a number of gate lines G1-Gm by predetermined duration. Data lines are grouped into four groups each consisting of n lines (d1A-dnA: group A, d1B-dnB: group B, d1C-dnC: group C, and d1D-dnD: group D). A data line driver 40 and a multiplexer 38 sequentially perform for the data line groups A-D in the above predetermined duration application of data voltage to each data line in a predetermined data line group. A precharge controller 44 and a voltage switching circuit 46 apply to each of the data line groups A-D, through a transistor 42, a precharge voltage (+V.sub.1 or -V.sub.1) with the same polarity with that of data voltage being applied next time during the time from previous application of the data voltage to next application of it.
